Wine Hescanas - ORVIETO

1-27 Orvieto Bar Hescanas We stopped in for a cappuccino as we were cold. The bartender greeted us warmly and we sat, warmed up, and bought a bottle of Orvieto Classico. The wine was okay, the coffee wonderful.

What a horrible experience! On a thundery wet afternoon we decided to have a glass of wine whilst taking in the Duomo view. We were the only customers, yet the waiter (maybe owner) a large brusque man, reluctantly came to serve us. We ordered 2 wines and he stomped off. He returned with 2 glasses and a bowl of crisps, then grunted a figure in Italian. We didn’t understand as we never get asked to pay up front, so he scribbled it on a napkin and said “pay now!” My husband tried to get him to smile and he shrugged his shoulders and glared at us. We didn’t have any cash, and asked for a machine but he growled something and asked for my husbands card to take inside, which we refused. He stormed off saying something which sounded offensive as he went. We got up and left without touching the wines! How he has any business with an attitude like that, I do not know. Obviously trading on the prime location alone.

Coffie and sandwich acceptable, great view on Duomo. That's all. Do not expect something special im place like this, enjoy view.

Not worth the prices. Situated in the Piazza Duomo be prepared to get soaked. Example 4 euros for a 330 ml coke. Service by young lady was good however. Just be prepared to spend too much

Has to have the best restaurant location in town but unfortunately the food and service was average and having to pay for the toilets when we're eating there..........poor form.
