Feedback gevenThe boss/owner is very focused and serious, but does an amazing job, especially when the place meets. We were his first customers of the day, which was good since we had two little children with us. The cow tendon with some Kimchi was very tasty and delicate. The seafood pork bell okonomiyaki was simply amazing. The cook has cut it helpful in 6 pieces to accommodate the children without asking us, vs. the typical neighborhoods. The seafood soy sauce butter yakisoba the best we still had, with delicate soft squid, octopus and a fleshy shrimp, the 't the standard tariff one-es boiled red instead of orange and was quite sensual, almost like Langostine tail. We liked that the place was a little strange the tourist way, away the hallway from the front (E/W St. of the corner building (see for the red lantern after Google Maps close you (there is another okonomiyaki space around the corner on the N/S Street page . When we were visited by locals at lunch, this can be a good sign. Nothing was too salty there, despite the ugly dribbles of sauce, so you could taste all the ingredients, especially the sweet vegetables. Two dishes others got that looked interesting, was a steak rolled in egg, and their green onion okonomiyaki. We need to visit the best places when we return to Tokyo to see if they can even compare, but we will not keep our breath.
Sanpei is a pretty small but really brilliant and charming Okonomiyaki restaurant. The food is great and the atmosphere is really authentic. If you have special wishes like Okonomiyaki without meat, just ask the cook and he will make a custom Okonomiyaki for you. It is difficult to find hidden in a building with many other shops, but it is definitely worth looking.
Since it's a bit hard to find, I'm uploading the pictures of the building, so I hope it will be easier for future guests to find it. Food is delicious, the place is cozy and quiet, English menu available.
We had the 3 small okonomiyaki set, each was delicious in its own way but the best in my opinion was the kimchi pork. The shop is tucked away in a building and the one man army/chef was awesome.
Food was really good! Okonomiyaki was very special and cooked perfectly by the chef in front of us. Yummy! Could be on the salty side tho.
