Boy I'm glad I had the Deluxe Lunch Special a glass, well used, white wine. About 20 pounds. Great food. No one spoke a word of English, but have an English menu (result! Would highly recommend.
Fresh, good taste and all is yummy! Love sushi, sashimi and everything there! sashimi squid served with plum sour sauce. scallop sushi is 9/10 quit thin slide while others sushi 10/10. clear clam soup is super good. umeshu on the rock is great too. A little pricey but worth it ;
I had lunch at this place which is recommended as one of Osaka 's top ten Sushi restaurants in quite a few guides. The sushi was delicious and so very fresh. On this visit, I had the standard assortment (which comes with Miso soup and, of course, tea). In addition I ordered two pieces of nigiri Omakase (chef 's choice) and an umeshu rocks (a light and sweet plum wine that is perfect for lunch). The two nigiri chef picked out for me today were Uni (sea urchin) which was buttery and rich also Anago which is a different kind of eel than unagi and is served lightly torched so it has a smokey flavor absolutely oishi (delicious). The sushi has Wasabi added by the chef, so it is served only with sliced pickled ginger. Smoking is permitted, though nobody was smoking while I was there the place gets quite crowded for lunch. English menu is available, though the very friendly staff speaks only Japanese. A word to westerners who may be experiencing their first Japanese sushi you will notice that most Japanese pick up their nigiri and turn it fish side down when dipping in soy sauce. It takes practice with the chopsticks, but is the proper way to eat it. The rice soaks up too much soy sauce and salt is all you taste.
If I had to sum up our trip to Osaka, it could be described by the experience we had having lunch at Sushi Hayata. The staff and chef were extremely friendly and always had a smile on their face when they glanced over to check on us. The sushi quality was amazing and we couldn’t believe how affordable our meal was. This was a prime example of someone taking such pride in their work and wanting to share it with the world. It was also my girlfriends first time trying ho toro and to say it was worth the 1 hour walk from the place we were staying is an understatement. Doumo arigatou gozaimasu!
Very good sushi and even better service! Excellent tempura as well! Lovely place!
