Royal Gastropub - Oslo

Stopped in for a late dinner while visiting Oslo. We were staying at the Thon Hotel Opera and walked over. This place is located inside Oslo Central Station and it's an English style pub. As is the custom in England, you find a table first and then place your order at the bar. There is a wide selection of beer including some non-alcoholic options. Be sure to remember your table number when you go to place your order at the bar. Your drinks are provided at the bar when you order and food is delivered to your table. I recommend asking for a tray to bring your drinks to your table. There is also a screen displaying train departure times in the seating area. Ordered the fish and chips, which comes with smashed peas, and a 7fyell ale. The fish was hot and tasty, with a light breading. The fish itself was firm and the accompanying tartar sauce was a good compliment to the fish. Personally, I could have used a little more tartar sauce but made do with the amount provided. The chips/fries were hot and crispy, and the server brought along a basket with ketchup, salt, pepper, malt vinegar, and utensils. The smashed peas were a real treat! Service was quick and friendly. A good, convenient stop while in the train station or staying nearby.

Good little pub to kill time while you wait for a train around the corner. The service was great, but the food was not so good.

Never been fooled by a pub or cafe like they did. I’ve ordered a small fish soup and get soup and 3 slices of bread with butter. Next day while ordering another fish soup but bog size I’ve been told that I have to pay for the bread. When I said to the lady that bread it is included in price she checked the menu and said “ahh really sorry that’s my fault. When we get soup we get a huge bowl with same quantity like a small soup but almost for double price. And also reduced bread portion from 3 to 2 slices. When I mentioned to the lady that the bowl is big but soup is same she start to explain me that it is the big soup. Shame on them I won’t recommend to no one to go there and be fooled. There’s more places near by with best food and cheaper prices. And stuff is more politely Just look by the spoon and you’ll understand how much was there,and there is butter also. That happened at 05/06/23 about 11am

The order via phone system is a hassle When you’re not from Norway but the food is good and the atmosphere aswell.
