Wow best dinner we have had in a long time and very reasonable prices. Our waiter, Charles, is the boss and gave us excellent service throughout the night. Can't wait to come back. Recommend the carbonara, Italian style and also French onion soup.
We entered for dinner reservations at 7... The kitchen is right in front as you walk in I like that .... The hostess stand is a little further in, around the corner of the kitchen. However I got a little shocked when one of the chef's dropped some plates loudly onto other plates and just walk on about it, as if it was okay to make that much noise in front of the guests coming in with no apology. When greeted by the host asking our preference of where to sit, inside or out, we looked at the outside option first ... Since it was seating at the bus station and beside a party of 6, we decided to be seated inside where we expected it would have been more quiet. There was a table for 2 against a wall and a table for 4 against the outside window. They sat us at the table for 2 which normally I expected if they were saving the table of 4 for 4 people with reservations... Nope... moments later they sat a couple at that better larger table. No idea why they did that and did not offer that table to us first ... It has the same waiting staff. We ordered the Ceasar salad, French onion soup, scallop prawns, osso buco ... Ceasar salad was nothing to write home about and over priced for what was presented .... French onion soup was fantastic, the main courses also excellent except they came warm and not hot (although the plates were very hot). They also should offered some form of bread or buns before or at least during the meal. Waiting and serving staff very nice and friendly.Lastly, they sat a group of about 8 guys in our area ... They were very loud disturbing to all other patrons, improperly dressed for a fine dining restaurant ... Baseball hats, shorts, flip flops, etc. They clearly lack class. I know this is a beach resort town but they still really should have a dress code for their patrons in this fine dining restaurant. Alternatively, build a separate dining room for those patrons. For the most part, all was a good night of dining and I'd return again for the food.
Amazing!!!The first place in Canada where I got really hot delicious food. Too many places serve only warm food but food is so much better when the temperature is perfect. The salad was also right room temperature. And the desserts were perfect. One of the best culinary experiences I had in Canada.
Not sure if it was a one off for the cook working the grill station but all of the steaks that were ordered for our party of 12 had the surface charred/burnt. Oddly enough, the cook on my particular steak was right on point (rare) but the surface was extremely charred. Every bite I take I would just taste burnt meat/carbon. On a more positive note the sauce that came with it was quite good and masked the burnt taste. The highlight for our group was the prawn and scallop risotto, hindsight being what it is I should've ordered that instead.Otherwise, a pretty decent meal with friendly servers. Just don't get the steak frites would be my suggestion.
