Love this diner! The food was served fast and that is to be expected because this is a seasonal town so in the winter there isn't a lot of traffic. The service was great by the chef who came out to greet us and make us feel at home. We ordered a beef burger meal and a chicken burger meal and both were delicious! I've read some of the reviews and some of them don't make sense because you get what you expect out of a diner, it isn't a 5 star restaurant! Good experience for people who know what to expect out of a diner :)
It pains me to give such a bad review to such a nice older lady (who I think was the only other person in there besides my family). She was eager to please, but I wonder if basic Americana isn't her specialty. The first thing we noticed was the water tasted funny, we weren't sure if it was funky glass wear, or just unfiltered tap water. The kids had chocolate milk (made with a powder that sank to the bottom and was so weak it looked like tea). We noticed a very bad smell as she was making our supper that had to be old grease (really old) in the fryer. Even our youngest exclaimed that it smelled bad in there once our meal was being made. The portions made no sense. We ordered one small portion off the seniors menu, two regular adult portions, and one portion of the children's menu, and they came out relatively the same size. It was very weird, we weren't even sure which cheeseburger was the child size one versus the regular adult one (for double the price). We let more than 1/2 the foods on the plate, they were so badly prepared. It almost seemed like they had the cheapest and oldest food they could buy, from inferior beef and fish, to old stale buns and French fries that must have been packaged in the 90's. I can't begin to tell you how bad this place was, even down to the freezing dining room. We gave the lady in there 20% as a mercy because she was so nice, but really, she ought to hire a better cook (or any cook) - because clearly she's not qualified. Even the youngest child didn't want the desert that came with her meal, she wanted to get out of there because she was still hungry but I refused to let her eat much more because I was ones toy worried about us all getting sick.
Stopped by around 02:00 pm. Nancy was very gracious and made us breakfast. Good sized portions. Good flavor. Great hotsauce. The coffee was the typical bulk coffee. Nancy made sure there was plenty of coffee cream on the table. Beautiful view across the lake from our booth. Will visit here again. Thanks again to Nancy for making a lovely late breakfast!
We had supper here, very good. I had the Pot Roast which was great and my husband had the cheese ravioli and he enjoyed it very much. Nice quiet place, service was very good.
