Burrito Shack - Ottawa

I have dined at this restaurant multiple times. The food has consistently been delicious, the portions are very generous, the staff is friendly, and the restaurant is clean. The prices are reasonable and the food is fresh. There was one occasion when they were short staffed, but that was an isolated incident. Overall, this is my favorite Mexican restaurant among the ones I have tried.

I ordered the tacos and they were just okay, but they were very small for the price and they charged extra for guacamole. The food didn't seem very fresh and the restaurant was not very clean. The two employees behind the counter were constantly on their phones and didn't wash their hands after handling money or their phones. Not good.

I have visited this restaurant a few times and the service has always been very slow. I have tried the nachos and quesadillas, and have attempted to order fish tacos but they never have fish available. The portions of salsa are always insufficient for the large quesadilla. On one visit, they even burnt my quesadilla and still served it to me without any discounts! The ambiance is lacking and there is a clear need for more staff, as it appears that there is only one person handling everything.

You need more employees instead of a person who does everything (that was during dinner time). I also wonder about the sanitary conditions of this preparation of food and money. I pre-ordered and my food wasn't even started when I arrived. Then my food was burned and I had to pay. This is the second time I got Queensadillas here and they give you this Puny quantity of salsa for this huge quesidilla and if you want more, you will be charged. I would also agree with other reviews that they do not have this (i.e. fish, but maybe that was a blessing in disguise). I wouldn't recommend this place many things they need to fix. Much better places to get this guy.

Can a little Ottawa spot compete with the big money of the chains for a fast food version of Mexican? The answer is yes. Sure, they were a bit chintzy on the quac (so you charged me extra for it, so give it to me! ,...but otherwise it was way better than other fast food Mexican in the city. When I need Mexican in a hurry, I'll be back.
