Canal Ritz - Ottawa

The view at this restaurant is spectacular. If you happen to come across this place while strolling along the canal, be prepared for slightly higher prices for average food, but the view is worth it. One standout dish we tried was the chicken and roasted pear salad, which was delicious. The combination of soft pear and gorgonzola cheese created a delightful mix of flavors with each bite. On the other hand, the chicken marsala pasta left something to be desired, as the sauce was too watery and lacked flavor. Despite this, the wait staff was friendly and attentive. The overall experience was enjoyable, thanks in part to the excellent service and beautiful views. Outdoor seating allowed for a nice breeze, perfect for relaxing after a walk along the canals. While we had a nice time overall, it's hard to recommend this restaurant solely for the salad.

The food at this restaurant was delicious. I ordered the Primavera Spaghetti with wheat pasta, veggies, and plum tomato sauce, while my husband had the salmon with mustard and white sauce. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the meat was tender and fresh. The spaghetti was decent, but could have used more sauce. The pasta was cooked al dente. The minestrone soup was tasty and the crème custard was a great dessert. The service was good, despite there being 40 people in our group. The ambiance was excellent, overlooking the canal. The only drawback was the presence of a lot of mosquitoes in the evening. It would be helpful if the restaurant could provide insect repellent devices so guests can enjoy their meal without being bitten.

The location and the Ambiance are perfect the service was very very good the food was mediocre it would be fantastic to see a superb chef reworked the menu at so that the food would match the potential of the location.

Service and ambiance were both excellent! Absolutely no complaints there! Food quality needs improvement. It really doesn't match the first two criteria. We had brunch; the eggs benedict were ok, but we've had much better. They forgot to include the spinach but apologetically gave us a generous portion when we mentioned it. The homefries were very plain and slightly grainy, obviously made from frozen, did not taste freshly made even though we were the first and only patrons there at the time. Disappointingly, the fruit was also not fresh as the few pieces of cantaloupe tasted off, definitely not fresh, definitely too old. I didn't dare eat the rest. If you improve the food quality, word of mouth goes a long way. I'd love to come back to better brunches, as you have a lovely ideal location.

One star is for the great customer service, the other star is for the view! Unfortunately the food we ordered was not that good! The bruschetta was too garlicky, it was overwhelming. The pizza dough was hard to cut and eat and the Gelato felt like a regular ice cream that had stale nuts in it! We paid around $80 for 2 small pizzas, the bruschetta plate and Gelato. Available parking dedicated to the restaurant on the left side which was super cool.
