Hokkaido Sushi - Ottawa

My wife and I were looking for a sushi at will in the charming market by district. the restaurant is pretty well located but it does not offer a terrace to feel the atmosphere of this neighborhood. the prices are reasonable and the quality dishes. The service could be more confidential.

Have been here countless times for the all-you-can-eat sushi lunch. The food is usually very good. The service is a hit-or-miss, sometimes amazing, other times just ok (slow or staff members not paying attention to customers.) Good variety. In love with their miso soup.

I reviewed this place a couple of years ago and have been back a few times. I find that the restaurant is consistently good. It isn't the top-of-the-line sushi that you can get at some of the other local spots, but for the price, the quality is quite good.This place is quite good for someone who wants to try a whole bunch of different types of Japanese dishes, find out what you like, and then go after higher-priced spots for better quality. Service is fast and efficient, food choice and quality is good, and the price is very good compared to other sushi places. My wife and I recently stopped in for a dinner buffet and we enjoyed it all - the white tuna and salmon sushi were particularly good on this visit. The tempura is hot and fresh too. My wife sampled a few new items for her (knowing I would eat them if she didn't like them) and we both gained some good new information. Location-wise, being in the Byward Market makes it fun to people-watch and close to lots of things to do.

Went with a few friends for sushi. The restaurant is located in the byward market which is indeed a convenient location.We were seated at the back of the restaurant. The staff were very nice and polite but it was hard to flag one down. The food is sub-par, the rolls are Ok, the salads were huge, while the sashimi were thin and tiny. The sashimi did not taste fresh.The fried food and teriyaki were good but for the high price one is paying to a Japanese AYCE, most would look for a well rounded restaurant. There are better AYCE around Ottawa.
