Karara Indian Take-Out - Ottawa

I have to say this time I was disappointedWe've been ordering from karara pretty much ever since it opened and the food has always been consistent.

We placed an order online at 3pm as we were starving, from having missed lunchThe earliest delivery time was 4pm.

After four experiences with this new Kanata branch of Karara, I've decided that ordering Indian takeout from here is something of a **** shoot.The first time, the butter chicken was outstanding: the portions were generous and the sauce was to die for. The vegetables were okay — but only okay.But it's now become apparent that Karara is inconsistent and unreliable. My second order produced four small pieces of chicken and a generous amount of excellent sauce. As for the veggies, you could easily count the potatoes and peas — they were so small in numbers — although again there was lots of sauce — and that proved welcome since the rather dry rice soaked some of it up.Third time, the lamb curry where they were stingy with the lamb and provided more sauce than I needed. The meat wa3 not especially tender. Again, the veggies were sparse.Butter chicken again on the most recent visit and this time there was lots of chicken, but there was also a peculiar new sauce, which was heavy on the tomato and unlike any other butter chicken sauce I'd ever encountered. And again they skimped on the veggies.Service tends to be brusque bordering on rude — and that's starting with making the phone order. I've never risked delivery, and have always picked up, and am still waiting for even a semblance of a smile from the guy on the counter. No sign that they welcome my business.My regretful conclusion: it's not worth it — especially if you live in reasonable proximity to the Clay Oven, which is one of the best Indian restaurants in the National Capital region and also does take-out.

This a very small sit in but more of a take out restaurant. Very reasonable prices and the food is delicious and the service impeccable! A great place to grab some take out great Indian food at an affordable price. This is a regular take...More

My favorite Butter Chicken in Ottawa! Very rich and creamy. The Mattar Panir (sp?) is wonderful as well, the cheese is delicious. I also love ordering the Onion Phajii (sp?), they're deep fried onion bites that are battered and seasoned so deliciously, with a wonderful sauce to dip. Love it! The price is reasonable, especially is you get the deals. There used to be a meal for two, but its gone so we get two meals for one and it's all portioned individually so no one can steal my food! Give this place a try :)
