Ottawa Kabab

This restaurant is a nice place for dinner. The salads, including Hummus and Baba Ganouch, were very tasty. The kababs didn't have the authentic Iraqi flavor, but were still good. The khubz (bread) was the best part. The service was good, with a friendly girl waiter who spoke Arabic, making us feel like we were in Baghdad. However, the prices were a bit high, with the meal costing 50 Canadian dollars. Overall, a good experience.

We came for a late lunch. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The entrance, dining room, AND bathroom were tastefully furnished, comfortable and clean. Family ownership they are proud of the place and support of customers. The complementary soup was delicious and... the meal came immediately, well presented and delicious. We had enough to go home and I enjoy it now. We were lucky to find this place.

We all agreed that the food was dirty and we tried a few dishes. Traditionally, Iraqi food is not tasteful, but it was not even good quality. The kebab is supposed to have the thing here, but we did not try this article. The salad was also... poor. Huge pieces of carrots and cheap salads. They warm their food in a microwave! Lentil soup was OK. Server Lady was pretty rude until I tried to speak Arabic. Totally see why others wouldn't go back. On all negatives it was expensive! We're not going back.

My husband and I tried Ottawa Kabab last night and were delighted. The interior of this little place is quite lovely someone had a good eye for colours and textures. The food is the real star though absolutely scrumptious and so much of...it. All fresh and healthy food, perfectly perpared. The meal starts with a flavourful bowl of pea soup and freshly made flat bread. For mains, I had a fried fish, served with copious amounts of saffron rice and salad. My husband had a platter with four skewers, two shish tawouk and two kebobs which came with grilled tomato, onion and tons of hummus, pickled turnip and other pickles. Good Turkish coffee as well. The service was also delightful. Highly recommend we will definitely return!
