Barley’s Kitchen+Tap - Overland Park

Went here for Father's day with my son and his grandma. It was reservation only. Got there about 30 minutes early which seemed to be an issue with the hostess, she was not pleasant, but we were still seated right away. I had not been to Barley's in over a year. I don't recall this place being so clean. Clean clean. The spacing between the tables was perfect for strollers and walkers and wheelchairs to get around. The Prime Rib was awesome. I should have taken a picture. The young man at the carving station was pleasant and wished me happy Father's day every time I went back for more. Every station at the buffet was clean and never ran completely empty before being refilled. The Cheesy Corn was better than Jack Stacks. Our server was super nice and our soft drinks were never empty. I have noticed that other places the buffet quality of food is lower than what you would get on the menu, but I definitely do not feel this way about Barley's. I need to go back again.

The bad reviews on the service here are no joke. Came in between lunch and dinner, knowing it would be slower. Despite it being extremely dead and staff was bored, chatting in the back, it still took 15 minutes before the bartender finally came around to ask if I wanted anything. I had plenty of time to look up the menu myself online, so I told them when they finally came around.The food itself is great, but the dining experience is garbage. You're better off ordering pick up here or going to the other location if you're really committed. I thought it was just the bar that was failing service, but several people from tables came up to the bar because they hadn't been greeted or gotten waters yet. I could literally hear some guys next to me having a full conversation about how the service has gone down the tubes since they've been coming and that they should hire a barback.Honestly, that would be overkill. One bartender is more than enough to handle the volume they had, but it helps to have someone with customer service skills. I should've brought a flag to wave someone down for service. There was zero recognition when a new person got to the bar, and it was uncomfortable how visibly irritated people were getting because the bartender was outright ignoring them. All the while, the five of us at the bar had empty drinks or were waiting to pay...Do yourself a favor and go somewhere that will leave you feeling at least neutral about your dining experience.

Beer selection is on point! Although the online menu doesn't show you the 4 beers they are out of until you get excited to try them. Had the short ribs. Excellent.Food: 5/5

Their burger and brewer’s board is really good. Not many cheeses but the sausage is great!

I always enjoy their happ hour and even regular proced items. It's wonderful that they have a rewards program where you can earn points for your purchases. The most recent time was not as enjoyable as usual,our waiter was crass, sarcastic, and rude at times to our party and others who dined on the patio.
