It was tasty but the rub was just a little salty. Next time, I'll try something different. We didn't feel rushed even though we were the only ones left in the restaurant. I've been here multiple times and am not sure why the restaurant isn't busy but I would come back.
If you look this place from the outside you can see that one letter from their name on the sign is off, the first impression is not the best. Once inside, both times I was there the place was empty, the second impression is not good either. I order some wings with garlic parmesan because you can go wrong with wings, right? No, the third impression was not good. My wings was way too overcooked and barely not garlic parmesan over it. And after this our waiter was gone and we had to wait almost 10 minutes just to get the check. The beer was cold. Thumbs up!
Service was excellent but the food was okay. We started with the drummies. These things are great. However one of them was raw in the middle. It happened to be the largest one. The rib eye steak was really good. Had it medium rare. Just needed a little bit more seasoning. Baby back ribs were so disappointing. No meat on them at all. The person who ordered this dish was still hungry after leaving. Understandably, this isnt a bbq joint, but still. I'd probably be going back here again. Not for the ribs.
I'm probably underrating Lone Star by a half to whole star, but I just have a thing about franchises. Not their fault, but it's still a thing. Let me preface by saying I cook one helluva steak at home. I hand cut my ribeyes from a primal, dry age them and cook them to perfection. It's an obsession of mine, so I'm understandably picky about steaks. Especially when a place is supposed to be all about the steak. So now let me come down off my high horse and get real. Lone Star is probably the best of the chain steak joints (Logan's, Outback, etc), with the possible exception of Saltgrass, but since we don't have a Saltgrass in Tulsa yet, they'll stay out of scope. The last time I dined at Lone Star was just before Christmas 2016 (in fact, my profile picture was taken there, by my beautiful wife). We both started with the pulled pork egg roll apps, which are a genuine delight. Smokey, rich pulled pork with tangy cole slaw and the right amount of sauce wrapped up in a wonton wrapper and flash fried. I could eat just those. The salads were salads, not a lot to say there, although I confess the iceberg wedge w bacon and blue cheese was a standout among those types that I've had. It's a double edged sword, that. Not a lot of ingredients to work with (lettuce, bacon, dressing), so each one has to be perfect, and Lone Star can do that one, hands down. We both ordered prime rib on that visit, and it was perfectly cooked, with a tad of smoky flavor. I suspect they either use smoked salt on the crust or let it sit in a smoke bath for a hot minute before cooking it. Either way, it was flavorful, tender and great. The baked potato was just that, being the right size to complement the steak and not be this huge pile of carbs sitting all over the plate. We didn't do dessert, as we're not generally dessert types, but I'm sure it would have been good. Again, I have a thing about franchises in general, and steak houses in particular, but of all the ones in the Owasso area, aside from Jeff's steakhouse, this is the one I'll go back to.
Welp I've been sitting here close to an hour and a half waiting for my dinner to get here. This place was a horrible choice for my birthday dinner. Ive seen 3 people complain in the last half hour. This place is a joke. So when we finally got our order.... my husbands steak was well done not the medium he ordered, my friends salmon was burnt to a crisp, her husband's steak sandwich was gross and my steak was medium well and supposed to be medium. I ordered a loaded baked potato and had a little piece of bacon. We ordered spinach artichoke dip, chili cheese fries and the onion bloom thing. The dip was good but not melted at all, the chili cheese nachos were covered in jalapeños and had no chili just beef on them, the onion was good. They said they're under new management but that's the excuse constantly. They need to get their **** together idk how that place is still running. They need to get someone in there that actually knows what their doing.
