The meat was very tough and expensive for the amount you got. The spices were great! The chicken came as described with the exception of no cucumbers. Was surprised that no sides came with the meals which were overpriced and also higher priced than the online menu. This is not a place I would recommend. Was expecting a fresh, local experience. Food was very disappointing.
I wanted so to try this restaurant since I heard it had opened. I must say that I was very disappointed to go to pick up food for my family at 8pm to find that they not only did not have any food but a couple containers of okra soup and one other concoction not labeled. I asked if anything could be prepared and was told no. The location closes at 10pm today. Why was there nothing available? What a bad experience.
Before our lunch, a friend shared some reviews of the restaurant with me, all of which were quite negative. They mentioned overpriced food and drinks, unsanitary conditions, and service issues such as food being served without gloves (you can read those reviews on their website). We noticed a “Lounge Tax” of nearly $20 added to our bill, which seemed quite excessive just to dine there. Despite these warnings, we decided to go and experience it for ourselves. Once we arrived and were seated, we already knew what we wanted since we had the menu. The unfortunate part was that the menus were outdated, and many of the items were unavailable. The few items that were offered were either overpriced, undercooked, or just plain unappetizing. We always request separate checks when dining together, and we made that request again. However, they did not accommodate us, and we ended up with a combined bill, which forced us to struggle to figure out who ordered what and at what price. Despite the negative reviews, we hoped to support our Nigerian brothers and sisters and give them a fair chance. Sadly, our experience at Suya Spot was extremely disappointing. The food was terrible and undercooked—a serious health risk, especially with poultry, which anyone in the food service business should be aware of. Additionally, we were charged $23 for a drink that only filled half of a tiny four-ounce juice glass. The idea of a “Lounge Fee” for simply dining inside or outside is outrageous. It’s unreasonable to charge high prices for food that’s mediocre at best. We left feeling truly disappointed, as we had hoped that the reviews were just the frustrations of unhappy customers. Our visit confirmed many of those negative experiences. Sincerely, The Monthly Senior Ladies of Randallstown
I don’t understand why someone would be in America if they don’t want to provide good service to everyone. We were really upset and just left without getting our money or the tip back, even though the food was overpriced and not good. Tips should be discussed or given voluntarily, not automatically included in the bill. I plan to file a complaint about their behavior, particularly regarding the blatant racism we experienced. It’s truly sad and disappointing.
I strongly advise against visiting this restaurant. I placed an order through Uber Eats and was absolutely shocked when it arrived. The portion was far from adequate, and I felt like I was about to have a seizure upon seeing it. I'm visiting from Los Angeles, where, despite being a more expensive city than Owings Mills, I've never had to pay this much for so little food. They seem to take advantage of the fact that I have no choice but to accept whatever they provide. Save your money and go somewhere else. As a Nigerian, I'm truly disappointed by the lack of professionalism I encountered when I called to voice my concerns. I genuinely recommend seeking Nigerian food elsewhere.
