Each dish has a robust flavor that takes me back to my time in Korea. The kimchi jjigae is particularly comforting, and the smaller meals have a delightful spicy kick. While the prices are a bit higher than expected for the portion sizes, the food is delicious, and it's hard to find a good Korean restaurant in Oxford. I would definitely recommend it!
This review isn't really a true representation of 순. I'm concerned that non-Korean diners might mistake this for authentic Korean food. It really could use more vegetables; there was just a quarter piece of onion in the dish. The taste reminded me of a typical Korean instant cream paste. Since I only tried this particular dish, I can't speak about the rest of the menu. Perhaps the other options would be better, and I hope they are! However, after spending five days in Oxford, I've come to realize that this restaurant actually serves quite good food at a reasonable price, along with excellent service. If you're looking for Korean cuisine, I would recommend trying Bibimbap instead of the soup.
I visited Jeong several times and found the staff to be very friendly. The portion sizes and prices were reasonable, nothing too pricey. The small room creates an intimate atmosphere, making you feel like you're in a local Korean eatery rather than a modern, chic chain restaurant. Even though it was quite busy on a Saturday, the food arrived promptly and was hot and fresh—which is a nice change from some places where the food is served cold. Since there aren’t many Korean restaurants in Oxford (most offer Asian fusion with just a few Korean dishes), I really hope Jeong's stays open for a long time.
Tastable and affordable Korean food, fucked away in Oxford Covered Market. Sweet decor and friendly staff, with good vegan / vegetarian options to make it all out. Would definitely recommend to eat for a quick bite!
My wife (Korean) and I went here separately, and we both love it. By far, this is the best Korean food you can get in Oxford. Authentic flavors and a great price. I personally recommend the 닭갈비 도시락 (dagalbi dosirak) if you like things a little spicy. The 김밥 (kimbap) is also great. I'll be going here regularly.
