The Restaurants At Wyncote - Oxford

Writing this after having dinner at the pub. Felt heartburn come on immediately turned into vomiting. I believe I have food poisoning, I had the shepherds pie and a glass of red wine. Confused as to how this could happen. Shame because I always used to enjoy this restaurant in the summer.

The last 2 times I've been here, I've been sick the following day. The guests I brought with me also suffered uneasy stomach issues following their meals. It's unfortunate because it's a great location for a nice meal. Haven't been back.

Hadn 't been in a while due to poor service, uninteresting menu and because we prefer to go to restaurants offering craft cocktails. Well we re visited this summer and were very pleased to find better service (still could use some improvements they had a staff meeting right at lunchtime! . Menu has been updated, though there didn 't seem to be any specials. Best of all, they now offer some interesting and tasty craft cocktails!

Server was very friendly. Dinner was good. Kitchen was very slow considering the restaurant wasn't busy. It took a long time for dinner and dessert to come out after we ordered. Stay away from the creme brulee. The top layer is not torched properly.

Had a great experience at the Ball and Thistle Pub the other day. The food was excellent. I got the Windy Cottage Pie and really enjoyed it. The staff was fast and attentive. Management has changed and elevated the restaurant since our last trip there years ago. I definitely recommend giving it a go!
