Good portion sizes. Not a fan of seeing live lobster tanks right near the tables - but it is a seafood restaurant after all.
My description comes from my sister's delight at the twinkling fairylights illuminating branches standing sentinel in huge Greek urns throughout this restaurant and creating a magical feeling that our partners also enjoyed. We did queue to get in on a Saturday night and the restaurant does not take bookings. Coming later is good, as by 8:30pm we were one of the few tables still occupied. Much of the restaurant is outside under enormous canopies, so it feels indoors, and right by the water. Now to the seafood, it is fresh and some of it can be seen swimming in tanks near the entrance. Between us we had prawns, fish, oysters, calamari and pork for my sister who does not like seafood but took us to Georges because she knows we do. The food was excellent as was the service.
Eight of us had dinner last Friday and were disappointed with our meals. The entree of garlic prawns had 4 small prawns and minimal garlic. The main course of lightly battered whiting was flavourless. The restaurant was full obviously based on its reputation. Our waitress Claudia was very pleasant. Lobster mornay was advertised as the speciality but we were told they do not offer fresh lobster with lemon.
Went there with my daughter, and as soon as we arrived were treated as royalty. The service was outstanding to say the least. Our food was totally Amazing and so fresh . Great atmosphere, and nothing was a bother to them. I have never before given a tip but I gave one without hesitation. The look on her face and thanks made me feel great. I wish to say a big THANK YOU.
So we didn't make a booking, which didn't matter, we rocked up to a rather impressive line at Georges, ultimately expecting not to get a table but the ladies at the front suggested we wait until they had a table available. Within 5 min there was a table available and to be honest I think we got super lucky with what we were given. We were seated on the Balcony overlooking the bridge which was super amazing, with a beautiful view of the river. We had a wonderful host, who was constantly topping up water and asking if we were good. He really was great. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine together while waiting for our meal, my partner ordered the yellow tuna entree and I had the 5 in one entree. Such a great start and came out pretty quickly. Our plates were clear nice and quick and even though the meals took a bit longer then we hoped, since we needed to be out by 7:30, the atmosphere was was so wonderful and the staff never once put any pressure on us to leave. It was one of the most romantic, most comfortable and beautiful evenings I think I have ever had. The Chefs special (seafood medley) was cooked to perfection, and I don't know what was done with the octopus but the only downside to my meal was the fact that there was only one piece, which I shouldn't really complain about since it was a perfect amount of food on the plate. My partner was ecstatic with the veal Oscar and after a taste I came to the conclusion that neither of ours was better then the other, they were both perfect. Thank you to the wonderful staff who made our night one to remember.
