Have lived in Palm Springs for 8 years and decided to try Johnny Costa's; what great experience! Outstanding Host, Waitstaff, Food, and overall dining pleasure!! Will definitely be going back after their summer break. If you have not been, give them a try and you be a fan also.
Dinner was amazing. My husband had a plant Parmesan. My husband said the eggplant Parm was better the last time he had it. I had shrimp Pomodori. It was excellent. My girlfriend had the lasagna.. she thought it was a little greasy, but otherwise tasted great.
While my dining experience started off strong, it unfortunately took a turn for the worse towards the end. We were enjoying the initial dishes and service and had that attention been through the end my review would be 5 stars! Unfortunately by dessert the service faltered as we waited a long time for our dessert, only receiving half of what we ordered. The coffee was cold and there were no utensils provided for it or the dessert. The explanation given was that they got busy, with only a brief apology offered. I was not looking for anything free but an apology from the manager would have gone a long way. It left us feeling agitated and disappointed, with no desire to return in the future.
I love Johnny Costa's. Old school Italian with a laid back ambience. The Steak Sinatra never fails to impress and is always delicious. Even their mixed green salad is so crisp. Tip: get it continental style (Italian and blue cheese dressing). Food is impeccable. Be sure and order some spumoni- it won't disappoint. Every time I come to Palm Springs, one dinner is always reserved for Johnny Costa's. This last time we had a lovely conversation with Vince Costa, the chef (son of the famous Johnny). It was great to be able to tell him how much I appreciate the restaurant, service and food! And to hear the origin story of Steak Sinatra. Till the next time. . .
