Sushi House - Palo Alto

The prices are excellent, but the rolls are a bit on the small side. I typically eat 1 to 1.5 rolls in a sitting, but I ordered three from this place and finished them all.

We have been loyal customers for years, including throughout the pandemic. Tonight, we ordered three sushi rolls for our five-year-old, who had his heart set on ikura for dinner. Unfortunately, it took a total of 57 minutes for our three sushi rolls to be delivered. They recently reopened their dining room, yet they still emphasize their online ordering system. The kitchen was fully staffed, but we were given false information three times by the service staff, each time being told that our food would arrive in five minutes or less. Waiting 57 minutes for three sushi rolls is simply unacceptable. If we had been informed that the wait would exceed 20 minutes, we would have chosen to dine somewhere else. We won’t be returning anytime soon; waiting an hour for a small tray of sushi is simply NOT acceptable.

Here are my thoughts on the lunch I had with the beef teriyaki takeout. I wasn't impressed; it didn't feel authentic at all. The beef teriyaki was overcooked and came without sauce, making it quite dry (see attached picture). The salad was decent, but the dressing was very oil-heavy. On a positive note, the calibre rolls were surprisingly good. Sushi might be the better choice at this place, at least based on the two pieces of California roll I tried.

The staff was good enough, but I? much worse than airport or supermarket sushi. We left a lot of what we ordered uneaten. Based on my experience, I would definitely avoid.

Comfortable casual sushi, friendly outdoor seating... I've been wanting to try this place for a while and dropped by for a late lunch, a spicy hamachi roll and salmon maki. Fresh, tasty, and a great value, I'm looking forward to trying more.
