This place is the only one that offers not 3 but 4 courses, and without any compromise in quality or bargain price. I always go for the garbanzos, pochas or lentils as first course, after a nice lettuce salad starter, then jaboli, trout, salmon or stews. The postres are a bit standard but then you can have a coffee and I always have a bubbly water in the price. The house red is one of te best I know. Oh yes, so the brothers that run it are a bit grumpy but who cares, they're super efficient it's tops can't wait to get back there for more!
This little neighborhood bar was a pleasant surprise. Located a little off of the beaten path of tourists in old town, the atmosphere was purely locals having some drinks and a bite to eat. The first time we visited was at about 9:00p.m. and we figured we needed a good base of food to start our night, so we ordered four of the homemade meatballs. They were tender and succulent and served in a tomato sauce that had a sharp taste of cured cheese, maybe Idiazabal, which is a famous Basque cheese. They were so good that we made sure to go back for more before leaving the next afternoon. The owners were two guys in the early fifties who seem to love old school rock n roll. They were playing Jethro Tull's Aqualung the second time we went back. If you are going to drink wines, I would stay away from the house red and rose, which were not really up to snuff. The second time we ordered a crianza, and it was much better. The neighborhood looked a bit rough at night and some of the clientele were as well, so just keep that in mind if you are thinking about going there for the last round at 1:00 am, for example. With that said, I look forward to going back the next time I am in Pamplona for some fantastic meatballs and a little classic rock!
