We spoke to the manager about it and he was good about it and gave our money back so that was good, but we won’t be going back.
Today I came for a platter saying it is served with cheese. Well the cheese they served was feta!!! And that was it... seriously!! Pretty unhappy about it. But I guess I knew the reputation they have here and decided to come anyway. It was such a stunning day in the bay that I wanted lunch on the water. Well thanks for reminding me why I haven’t been here for 6 years.
This restaurant has an amazing location but on a cool, windyy day it isnt anything amazing. The service is good.Very small inside seating area and get full very quickly in the weekends. Drinks menu is ok and upsettinf when you cannot get a botlle of the wine that you wanted to enjoy. Food is average, very big portions.Lamb was very good and the fish was ok.Dessert was very sweet to my liking and very big portions. A plus if you love larger portions..I just hates to waste any food.
Nice environment clean and professional. I liked the design and the lighting too. Their dinner menu is expensive, yet the quality of the food is good. From what I remember their Tasting plates are around $15 and their Mains are in the $30 range and they also serve dessert. I decided to have two tasting plates: Seafood chowder with bacon, mussels, calamari, shrimp chunks of white fish in a cobb loaf. Lemon pepper calamari with an aioli dressed side salad a Vietnamese dipping sauce. The seafood chowder was served hot and was tasty! The mix of seafood worked well together in the chowder. The calamari wasn’t dry or saturated which I was impressed with. They tasted delicious and tasted even better with the provided sauce and salad. Overall I was really happy with my meal and the other people that I dined with also had a similar experience. The only thing was serving sizes I suggest to ask the staff how large your meal is. One dish came out well presented but the portion size was smaller than my friend’s expectations.
I can 't describe how disappointed I am in East Pier. It has the best location in Napier, but unfortunately the restaurant does not make the most of this. The menu looks interesting enough but the food on arrival has always just been OK considering the price. But what it lacked in quality it made up for in quantity. But over the last 6 months it has deteriated on both counts. The interesting thing is that over the holiday period January 2016 we had some very enjoyable meals at East Pier with visitors to HB and the game had lifted a lot. If you look at the other reviews you will see many of the positive reviews are from this time period. But since then the standard has dropped right back again. I can 't help but notice that they are now constantly offering vouchers on GrabOne maybe this has changed the nature of the restaurant? Who knows. Anyway for the price of the food I can 't recommend the offerings. However for many, the location will make up for it. And if you just want to have a drink in the sun while enjoying the best views in Napier then East Pier is perfect.
