Alona Pawikan Resort Ken's Place

Rooms are excellent and comfy. Big beds, lots and LOTS of power outlets, sensical aircon, private cottage type, well lit and ventilated during the day, and small verandah. If I have to nitpick then its the huge TV in the room that we never use during our 4nights stay. The cost of the TV could go to upgrading some of the furniture or lowering the price. But this is nitpicking. Plenty of options in the bar altho like most in Alona, slightly overpriced. Services can't be better. A simple yet proper coffee bar would be a welcomed addition. Certainly my first choice when I'm in Alona/Panglao.

The outside of the room is beautiful, and the inside of the room is comfortable enough. The lighting is a bit dark, and the road from Alona to here is dark and takes a long time to walk (if you rent a motorcycle from them, pay attention when returning the car) We go to bed at 10 o'clock in the evening, but there is a bar outside and you can play billiards. It's too lively. It's noisy until midnight. If you want to sleep well, you may have to ask a little bit to see if you can live in a room farther from the public area.

We went for a few beers and ended up staying for hours talking to Ken and the staff. They are all great people with amazing stories to share.

Great value for money! The rooms are excellent, though I did find one downside: the television only allows you to watch Netflix with your personal account, so no regular channels are available. Everything else was just fine—cleaning was thorough, the staff were friendly, and despite being next to the bar, there was no noise before midnight. The location is perfect; it's close to Alona Beach but far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet. The bar offers a happy hour every day featuring gin and tonics and rum and cola (just a heads-up—this only includes local spirits, so other gins aren't part of the deal). We had dinner there a couple of times, and the nachos were fantastic. Another nice touch is that when you check in, they provide you with two bottles of water and will refill them for free whenever you need more.

This is a great value resort that offers a wonderful local atmosphere, and the bar within the resort is particularly impressive. It has a warm, cozy homestay vibe. Room quality: 5 Service quality: 4 Location quality: 4 Overall highlights: Excellent value for the price.
