My only complaint is that it should have come with more steamed rice, as the curry had a soupy consistency. Larger chunks of pineapple would have also been a nice addition. The curry contained six good-sized shrimp, though a few more would have been appreciated. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. The decor, however, is quite dated and in need of a renovation—someone like Robert Irvine would be perfect for the job! On the bright side, the service was excellent. I was the only customer, so I didn't expect anything less, but it was still impressive.
The décor is quite dated and a bit worn, which feels intentional for a first-generation family restaurant owned by Asians — it seems they really invest their efforts into creating good food. The service, however, is hit or miss; don’t confuse the owners' kindness with proper service. Often, you won't even receive a spoon for your soup, and some staff can appear noticeably annoyed. Prices are quite reasonable, but the portions are small. They maintain an authentic approach to traditional Thai cuisine, using ingredients that stay true to classic recipes. They adapt the spice levels to suit Western tastes, which is great for me since I'm not a huge fan of spicy food. When dining with friends (who may not be Asian), we’ve noticed a clear difference in spice levels depending on who orders the dishes — if it’s mild, that works for me. Their Papaya salad is excellent, with great textures and colors, but again, be mindful of the spice level. You’ll find that many dishes are quite liberal with peanuts. The Pad Thai is a bit heavy but well-presented, though not mixed so you might have to do that yourself. I really enjoy the darker sauce used in their Pad See Ew, although it can become dense if you take it to go and reheat it the next day. I love their generous use of broccoli and they offer some super classic dishes such as the Tom Kha soup and their red and yellow curries. The soups are well-balanced, light yet rich, and filled with shrimp. The red curry is nicely blended and not too thick, while the yellow curry is smooth and light — perfect for when you're not in the mood for a heavy meal. The spicy beef noodle is a classic dish that offers a bit of a modern twist. I come back for the stories and the nostalgia tied to this classic Thai spot in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit. I’m giving it an extra star today simply because I’m in a good mood.
This restaurant is under new management now. It has been revamped, and the quality of the food has improved compared to before, with larger portion sizes as well.
