The service was attentive, halpfull, professional and in general very good, unlike the food....sorry.

I’m sure this restaurant is absolutely overrun in the summer, given its location in a beautiful praia fluvial in northern Portugal, but we caught it on a quiet Saturday eve in October, and the staff were delighted to welcome us. We chose a bottle of white wine from the local area, to go with my vegetarian alheira sandwich, and my fiancé’s steak with a special house sauce. All was delicious, and the service friendly and warm. We were early for dinner (7:30) and by the time we left at 9 pm, coupkes were filling in the tables. A small menu well executed, and a gorgeous sunset view over the river. And the price? €39 total, including couvert.

We found this restaurant by accident. They were offering only vegetarian dishes on the day in conjunction with a local congress. We went for lunch and were absolutely delighted with the welcome from Mario and his team. We are not vegetarian, but really enjoyed the well thought out and skillfully prepared dishes, together with the excellent wines suggested, We are returning to the UK so won't be able to return .Were we staying longer we would be beating a path to Mario's door For inventive, beautifully cooked food plus charming service in nice surroundings this is the place to in the area and we recommend it highly.
