I was just after noon when we stopped in and they were packed so I guess the food must be good. We sat at the bar which was a comfortable dark wood and we were served 4 local craft beers. The bartender was very helpful and was willing to talk about the flavors and brewing of the beers. If you are in the area and want a good brew, stop by.
Was waiting for a bike tour to start and spotted this place down a side street, thought Hop House that must be beer; and it was! But not just any beer like totally locally brewed craft beer. It was around 12:30pm and the place was packed for lunch so I am assuming the food was good, though we didn't eat. We had 2 pints each so we got to try 4 of their taps, they were are great. Crisp, cold, nicely hopped and hit the spot. I don't remember the name of the beer but the dark one was my favorite.
We, like others, were fairly tired of Stella Artois and as beer aficionados wanted to see how the French handled this alcoholic treat. We had traipsed all around Paris and figured how interesting this place might be since it's on rue des Capucines (which means nasturtiums in French) and close to the beautiful, and infamous, Place de Vendome and well as in the Paris Opera neighborhood-trust me, you'll need to familiarize yourself with the various neighborhoods and use them for direction.Comfy, British style décor, heavy dark woods, stained glass inserts, but there is where the similarity ends to a cozy British - or American for that matter - pub. We saw a chalkboard with beer offerings but all but 3 of the 9 written were available. When I asked about a t-shirt since their logo was cute, there was great confusion and they finally directed me to the website. Not what I would call friendly nor accommodating. We ordered burgers and they were OK, certainly not exemplary. My husband had his heart set on Parisian 'frites' and what we got were regular American fries. Wouldn't really go back.
If you've been frustrated by French beer, this is the place to visit. Great IPAs and tasty American BBQ-style food. It's a little pricey, but it you're craving a full-bodied brew and a little taste of the States, this is what you're looking for.
What a great place to come out for a good time. A very lively atmosphere always packed. The bar staff is awesome and you will not leave here disappointed. Recommend trying the Ginger Twist IPA. A must try if your in Paris!
