However, I wanted to test the piperade with poelé ham (spotato strain, ham, omelette and basquaise sauce.) I was not disappointed, very good and in good quantity. We have to come here if we're hungry!
Magret de canard was enjoyable. Pave de canard was tasty but very difficult to carve, even with the serrated knife provided. Wines were good. We have been to this branch and three others many times, and always had good service. One waitress was good - friendly and efficient. The other was not. Unsmiling, and it was difficult to attract her attention, even though not very busy. When she brought the cheese course she failed to bring any cutlery, nor did she provide more bread. When I went to the bar, where she was chatting to a couple of other customers, to request these she obviously resented the interruption. I think she - and the customers - would benefit if she were sent for (re)training in customer service.
Enjoyed our dinner very much! I read it had great reviews and it didn't disappoint! I finally got to try Escargot in Paris! Also, had an amazing Charcuterie! My mom enjoyed a great steak w/ fries! Our server, from Portugal was the best! She made sure we were well taken care of and it was so awesome to practice my Portuguese with her! Thank you so much for making us feel so welcomed! It was Royal!
Very nice restaurant that have a big choice in its menu. 10/11 type of meat, cooked in different ways. Home wine. I suggest as starter: fries with blue cheese and jambon first dish: Duck with mushrooms
When I lived in Paris over ten years ago, the original Chez Gladines in Butte aux Cailles was a local secret and hands down my favorite place to eat. I was a bit afraid but not surprised to see how successful they have been since then, with now 6 locations through Paris.Sadly, after trying the new restaurants over two previous trips, they have lost most of the magic. On the good side, the menu remains unchanged and still extremely cheap (especially for Paris). But the food is only a pale copy of the original and I have been consistently disappointed in my ex-favorite Salade des Cinq Diamants. The last time I ate there, they had clearly reheated some of the ingredients from lunch and both gésiers and foie de volaille were very dry and tasteless. Service was barely adequate despite the place not being busy at all. With the similar decline of the Paris mosque restaurant, I am very sad to see my favorite Paris addresses having declined so much.
