Don't judge a book by its cover, when you first walk in the restaurant could use some love but it is very clean. The server was very friendly, nice and accommodating. This was a Friday night and we did not have a rest. It got busy quick glad we got there when we did or we night have not got in. We order the Mahi Mahi Tempura (daily special) Agedashi tofu to start. The tofu was cooked to perfection and I am picky about my tofu. The mahi mahi was moist and delicious! We did not wait very long for our starters. We then ordered everything to share. The Dynamite Roll with Smoked Salmon, Rainbow Roll and the Sakura combo which included tuna roll, salmon, roll, cucumber roll and a California roll. All rolls were spot on and delicious. my only complaint would be that the larger rolls were not wrapped tight enough and were hard to eat. Their Ice cream is a must have. Its the best green tea ice cream I have ever had. I would defiantly eat here again when I am in town.
Really wanted to like this place but it just wasn't very good. We just had some basic rolls like California Rolls, Avocado Rolls with some Tempura which wasn't too bad. Also got a Dynamite Roll and a lousy Kame Kaze Roll. (The flying fish roe was not good) The service was good, servers were friendly but unfortunately the food tonight was so-so.
After being a loyal customer for 6 years, I can confidently say that this restaurant has the best GOMAI I've ever tasted. The Nigiri Box is delicious, but I have two small complaints. Firstly, the Chicken teriyaki is cubed and tastes processed. Secondly, the tempura is tasty, but the eggplant is placed on the bottom and ends up soggy every time, which ruins the overall experience. Despite these minor issues, the rest of the food is excellent.
This restaurant consistently serves excellent Japanese cuisine. However, I found it a bit strange that there was no rice included with the chicken teriyaki a la carte. In my opinion, a Japanese meal should always include rice. The service was attentive and the food was delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I have been dining at this restaurant for 10 years. The reason is simple - the food and staff are excellent. You must try the Ocean Roll!
