If there is Brazilian BBQ anywhere else, I would not recommend Rio. After we were seated, it took about 20 minutes to get our appetizers and another 15 minutes before we were served meat. We had to ask the waiters for meat. The lamb tasted like leather, was tough to cut, and cold. The pork only came out once and was overcooked. The chorizo sausages did not taste authentic. The pineapple was cold and uncooked, with cinnamon on top and microwaved for 10 seconds. The chicken was dry and over seasoned. The rump had no fat and was dry and tough. The lemonade was watered down and flat. The chips and halloumi cheese were cold and boiled. The pasta was bland and dry. The only positive was the pork sausage and grilled fish fillet. The staff was friendly.
Last night, my friends and I visited Rio for a social dinner. To start off, I must mention that this place also doubles as a nightclub. They blast extremely loud Latin music, making it difficult to hear each other during dinner. The waitstaff, who appear to be just over 18 years old, lack proper serving skills and seem to be poorly managed. The food was the most disappointing aspect of our experience. Despite it being advertised as a churrasco, all we received was reheated sausages and poorly cooked, or in some cases, ice-cold meat. It was truly disgusting. On the bright side, the drinks and cocktails were decent, though my cocktail was clumsily spilled by a young bartender. At around 8:30pm, to our surprise, a DJ started playing loud music and a samba performance ensued. While the dancers were lively and entertaining, I was uncomfortable with the presence of young children who were exposed to it. Towards the end of the performance, it took on a more inappropriate vibe, resembling a strip club. I was shocked that this was allowed to happen in front of children. The furniture in the establishment was old, broken, and dirty. Overall, I believe this place should be shut down as it was a disgusting experience, and I will not be returning.
My partner and I had the worst dining experience ever at this restaurant. The staff seemed uninterested and lacked knowledge about wine and food. Our red wine was served in a strange manner and there were no South American options. The waitress had no clue what a Malbec was. The sides were bizarre, with potato salad served with a strange pasta salad sauce. The garlic bread tasted store-bought. The red meat was mostly reheated and tasted bad. The hot chips seemed microwaved. We felt physically ill halfway through the meal. The service was terrible and when we asked to speak to the manager, we were told they were not available. We have tried reaching out to the manager without success. We strongly advise against dining here. Do not make the mistake we did. Feel free to try it yourself if you don't believe this review.
I really want this place a high score, whose service is excellent. as a vegetarian I had a lot of charming options, but you really have a try also worth a try for meat lovers. my man enjoyed the flesh and sides. good value for money!
I have visited a number of Rio restaurants in Sydney, starting with the original Rio's in Camperdown in the mid/late 1990s. This venue, the atmosphere, food, service and entertainment is so far removed from a Brazilian experience that it was deeply disappointing. I hosted a...table of table of 9 on a Saturday night, and had to curb my frustration in the interest of maintaining the vibe of the occasion for which we had gathered. Unfortunately, the food has been corrupted by other influences, and the quality does not at all reflect true Brazilian cuisine. For the premium price paid for the food and beverage package, it fell a long way short of minimal expectations. I would recommend elsewhere.
