Located on old Hwy 69 only 3 km south of Parry Sound, this unassuming property holds a surprise - great food, served with a smile. We struggled with the decision of what to order - between the list of daily specials, and the regular menu, there were so many attractive choices! The prime rib and the New York steak won out, and we were not disappointed. Hanna took good care of us, although the wait for food was longer than we expected - it seems the kitchen was a little backed up. We will be back soon.
We did not stay at the Log Cabin Inn, but we did go there for dinner. It was excellent from the gravlax roulade appetizer to the maple bourbon creme brûlée. The mustard sauce served with the roulade was truly delicious! My husband also enjoyed the watermelon feta salad--a great combination--and very nice with his two generously-poured Scotches. We both enjoyed the whitefish, and the rice and grain and vegetables accompanying it were creatively constructed and just delicious. The nice feature of the "wine by the glass" part of the menu was that you could order different sizes of the glass or a bottle--something for everyone! Our service was superb, and waitress Natalie worked very hard to serve us well! What a great find!
Celebrated our anniversary with a 30,000 island cruise followed by dinner at the Log Cabin. Warm welcome when we arrived, attentive but not overbearing service. Our server, Lori was excellent and helpful. Despite how busy it was and the time frame many needed to be served by (many were attending a concert that night), we were well looked after. Our meal which started with soup and ended with desert was truly outstanding. Highly recommend.
While staying at the Log Cabin Inn, we went for dinner at their restaurant. It was a very cozy room with family-friendly fine dining. The green and natural view from our window seat was gorgeous and restful.I started with the Oxtail Soup, which looked small, though sweetly served in a floral teacup. The soup was savoury, meaty and delicious so a teacup's worth was just fine.Next was pork tenderloin wrapped in prosciutto. That was perfectly cooked, moist inside, crispy prosciutto outside. It was served with some lovely steamed veg and a tasty but overly herbal risotto. My partner had the steak and lobster and was reasonably happy with it though found the steak needed some seasoning. They accommodated instantly with an offer of jus or peppercorn sauce. That did the trick.Too full for dessert, though they did look lovely walking by. I appreciated the breakfast bucket they gave to Inn residents with danish, juice and fruit for the morning. The staff were extremely helpful, professional and friendly. I would be happy to go back again.
