Great restaurant really nice inside. Service was also amazing. Overall quality of food very high. Good place for special occasions.
A group of 5 of us came here for restaurant week on a Friday night. The ambiance is nice and the food is delicious. The service is strange and a bit stressful. We did have a reservation. Upon arriving, we were warmly greeted and were promptly seated, which was nice. Then the service began getting a little pushy. Almost giving off the vibe of a struggling restaurant trying to get by on the up-charges. It started with the water. We were offered still or sparkling. We said still and they brought out bottled water. My fault I suppose for not asking if they had tap. Upon looking around the restaurant, we saw that they did so we planned to pay for bottle 1 and ask for tap the next time around. But after we finished our 1st bottle, the waiter quickly brought back a new bottle of bottled and began pouring it without us requesting it. We stopped him and asked for tap saying that it was not offered to us the first time around. To the restaurant's credit we were not charged for either bottle. That said, it seemed like the table next to us had the same experience so probably not an isolated incident. The same happened with the few of us that were drinking wine. We'd finish a glass and they'd appear at the table and just begin pouring another without us asking for it. It happened all night and I probably wouldn't have registered it until I saw the bill if it hadn't been for the fact that they were doing it so oddly fast. I've never seen anything like it. Regardless of cost, a few times we had wanted to order something else so we'd have to stop him mid-pour and ask for what we actually wanted as we hadn't even had a chance to get a word in and he never asked if we wanted it. It felt a bit sneaky and like we had to be on our toes so we didn't end up with something we didn't request but would inevitably get charged for. The same happened with the bread. They asked if we wanted bread and our friend said yes, commenting that she never turned down complimentary bread. Having read the menu, I knew there was a charge, but it was just another thing quickly offered at an additional cost. You have to pay attention at this place. The baguette was beautiful and delicious, but they didn't bring bread plates. After 10 minutes of eating over our napkins and seeing that the waiter wasn't going to bring plates, my husband went up and got them himself. My point being that the waiter was so focused on the details of the service that offered an up-charge that the standard elements were missed and at the prices that they are charging, that shouldn't be the case. That was our feeling through the whole meal as the waiter never came over to ask how our food was or check-in. We saw the staff when they brought and took plates and when they delivered drinks. Again, food was tremendously executed. Really memorable honestly. The service was stressful. I wouldn't go back.
Amazing service, food is great, lovely ambiance. Dessert is 10/10. Thank you so much for a great experience!
A French-inspired restaurant newly opened in Old Town Pasadena. Reasonable pricing couple with great execution. Chef/owner worked at many 2 and 3 Michelin Star restaurants in the past. Would have given 5 stars but Happy Cow app will not allow since it is not a fully vegetarian or vegan restaurant.
