Twain's Tavern - Pasadena

The setup is fantastic with an outdoor seating area, a dance floor, pool tables, and a dining area featuring booths and a spacious bar. They offer regular entertainment, and there's a free parking lot available.

I reserved a table a week in advance for a night when a band was performing, anticipating a full house since it was very crowded the last time I visited—there was standing room only right when you walked in. Calling ahead to secure a reservation was essential. I called, made the reservation, and provided both my name and phone number. I was instructed to arrive by 7:30 PM. When I got there at 7:30, I was informed that they had started giving away reserved tables at 7:00 PM. So, my party's table had just been given away. Considering they charge $20 per person and I made a reservation a week in advance for a large group, I expected at least a courtesy call before they handed our table to someone else. The management clearly shows a lack of regard for their customers and for how they run their business. Very disappointing, Twain's.

I usually enjoy Twain's, but my carryout order today was disappointing. For $13.00, I expected more from the Italian cold cut sandwich. It only had one slice of cheese, one slice of bologna, and a piece or two of salami, which barely filled the roll and was overly salty. The server who took my order was friendly, and when I inquired about banana peppers, she was unsure but offered to check. I told her it wasn't necessary; I would like them if they had them. They didn't, but she kindly included a container of the peppers they do have with my sub. Usually, the food is great, but this time it just didn’t meet expectations.

Very good food.... however be sure you call to make sure they are even still open despite that fact that they’re listed as being open until 2AM. Got there around 9 and the kitchen was closed. So I guess if you can catch them between 3pm-7pm might get to try the food.

We arrived around 6 PM, Friday/2-24-23, and the restaurant was not crowded at all. We were seated by the host, and waited 20 minutes before anyone came to our table to ask us for drinks. When she showed up, she took her drink orders, and disappeared for another 20 minutes. Then came by our table and acted like she forgot about us, she brought me a Coke to drink that was just mixed up in their system, and tasted like seltzer water alone with no syrup. I am mediately gagged on this and asked for an alcoholic beverage, an orange crush. She arrived with that another 10 minutes later, and the drink tasted like orange and pineapple juice with no alcohol. Very disappointed! We made a food order and it took about another 45 minutes for our food to come out. I ordered an over priced, $27.99)New York strip steak dinner, and when I received my meal, a steak prepared by McDonald’s would have tasted better. It was loaded with more fat and gristle than actual meat, and was only about a quarter inch thick. My sweetheart ordered the surf and turf. Burger, which was very tasty along with the french fries and gravy. Her meal was very tasty, but mine was very disappointing. And the service was absolutely terrible. With my experience turning out the way it did, I will not eat at this establishment ever again.
