It was another food panda delivery today, as I had limited time on my hands. if they haven't used their app service yet, they are quite competent with updates of too time. Today they have forgotten to send me tools, no spoon and/or fork it was a delicious lunch with some complaining. my main dish, paksiw na lechon was too oily and his flesh had mostly fat fractions. the face fried kangkong was fresh, soft and crispy when it comes to it, but its portion size was not much. lechon fried rice was delicious, but not much for its price tag of php 77!
The cebu lechon of jun is the only lechon place in the tiendesitas food village. they offer of course the classic cebu lechon dish, to other versions like lechon sisig. and as for the authenticity of lechon, without having to go all the way to cebu, I would say that it is quite close to the taste of the one I directly from cebu when a friend comes back to the city, I love the saltiness and tenderness of cebe lechon. there is really no other type of lechon that can compare with it. the skin also has a soft crunch as the usual lechon. jun jun is not as salty as I would have liked, even as tender. Maybe they cook it a bit faster at a higher temperature...read more
Jun & Jun’s Cebu Lechon is the only lechon place in Tiendesitas Food Village. They offer of course the classic Cebu lechon dish, to other versions of it such as Lechon Sisig. And as for the authenticity of the lechon without having to go all the way to Cebu, I’d say that it’s pretty close to the taste of the ones I get directly from Cebu when a friend comes back into town. I love the saltiness and tenderness of Cebe lechon. There’s really no other type of lechon that can compare to it. The skin also has a soft crunch than the usual lechon. Jun & Jun’s however isn’t as salty as I would like it to be, nor as tender. Maybe they cook it a little quicker at a higher temperature, which doesn’t allow much of the salty flavoring to penetrate enough fully into the meat. Perhaps that’s why they serve it with soy sauce on the side. For others I guess it would be good not having too much of the salty aspect, but then that’s a bit of a miss in terms of authenticity. It’s great that they have rice meal options, instead of the limited option of ordering large quantities of lechon. For P100 pesos, you get a decent amount of lechon, with rice and iced tea. In my book, that’s quite a steal of a deal. They have other rice meal options, but that’s the first deal on their menu, and that’s what I get. Classic is best. Though I must say I get peeved when they don’t have rice yet, or it’s out of stock. Really? For a place that serves lechon rice meals, I think you should be loaded to serve rice. What Pinoy doesn’t eat lechon with rice? When I think about lechon or Cebu lechon while at work, it’s Jun & Jun’s that I head to. Pocket friendly and authentic enough for the ultimate Cebuano dish. Also it’s a great place to have some chow and drinks while hanging in Tiendesitas. I think I hear the pigs calling me...
