Feedback gevenPlace and service was good. Food is yummy but small serving they said its good for 2 but for us its just good for single serving. Over all experience is nice, waiters are very attentive and accommodating. :)
I love their pizzas! especially the Pizza Bianca :) i had to shoot the foods for my blog so some are not that hot anymore. for sure it's more delish when it's hot. *sigh* but nontheless, great food! More reviews on my blog soon!
Wen I try a new restaurant that is getting marginally good reviews- that I don't quite agree with based on my order, I wonder if I should just charge it to a bad day in the kitchen. THAT-I would understand. My first few times of visit- I just had a problem with the doneness of the pasta- I believe the pasta sauce was good- so I still went back hoping they can get the perfect cook for the perfect bite. Encouraging them to do better. After 3 visits of telling them "less cook than last time" etc etc- I went on to the next item I want to try which was the cannoli. I love cannolis!! I was pretty excited that they have it on their menu as not many has it. Imagine my dismay when it came to me. Let me describe it. There was a plate and a puddle of something that looked like completely melted mocha cream and on top of it were 2 pieces of shells - each piece completely crushed into pieces as if dropped from ten foot elevation. I was so aghast and speechless and when I looked up, the supervisor said- "That's really how we serve our cannoli." There is just nothing you can say after that. Suffice to say, I left and never came back ever again.

It was a good day to tick off another restaurant at the Ayala the 30th Mall food scene. I was there for a quick meeting and the sunny weather seemed to call for food that was just as bright and vibrant in look and taste. We then head on over to Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen, situated right smack in the middle of the right side of the mall's second level where several bustling restaurants were entertaining lunch goers. Mama Lou's greets you with a beaming light up signage and we were granted the impression of a cozy household through the rustic windows. The servers were as warm as they were accommodating and cheerfully led us to a table in the middle of the establishment. We had quite a good view of the whole place, taking in the warm, rustic interiors, definitely how you would imagine a traditional Italian household. Orders were placed and our mini Italian feast for the meeting consisted of 5 dishes to cover most (if not all) bases in standard Italian cuisine fare: Baked Italian Meatballs (P195) from their Antipasti selection, Pasta Arrabbiata (P295), Risotto Pesto al Pollo (P325), Spinach and Goats Cheese Pizza (P325/425), and their own take on the classic Chocolate Cake (P160). As we were notified to wait for 15-20 minutes for our food to be served, our table was first occupied by a basket of crostini chips and 2 ramekins for dipping; one containing marinara and pesto on the other. The chips as well as the dips were gone as soon as they came and we just had to have a second serving altogether, especially the dips. If I could take some home, I would take multiple jars with me. That good. A real great start, I’d say. Then one by one the dishes start to populate our table. The Baked Italian Meatballs arrived and honestly, the presentation could be better. Aside from that, it was definitely a starter that had our appetites going. The meatballs were on a bed of pomodoro sauce and was topped with melted mozzarella cheese. Cutting through the crust and into the meatballs itself was an experience as you can smell the freshness of the meatballs. Well-spiced, rich meaty taste and cooked to perfection, the meatballs were definitely a treat. Then came the Spinach and Goat Cheese Pizza. It was laid on a wooden board and It came with a small plate of greens, half arugula half alfalfa. Exciting! I noticed the table go quiet in anticipation as the server laid it on the table. It had a nice bite to it: ingredients spread evenly and thoroughly, with a very pleasant hint of sweetness from the creamy, honeyed goat cheese. The thin pizza crust had a great smokey taste and a little resistance to the bite for that authentic, brick oven-cooked Italian pizza experience. Eating the pizza with the greens definitely had an entertaining play of crunch and crisp textures. The Arrabbiata looked gorgeous as it was served still steaming. The dish was a heaping bowl of pasta and the chunks of sun dried tomato and the bold redness of the arrabbiata sauce was very stimulating and attractive. And yes, the anticipated spiciness of the dish just envelopes your palate and tongue for a subtle yet lasting kick - perfectly blending with the delightful sharpness in flavor brought by the sun-dried tomatoes. Amazing arrabbiata sauce with the al dente pasta. The Risotto Pesto al Pollo definitely looked enticing yet altogether was quite overwhelming. The pesto cream was nice and light yet was rather very creamy and overpowered the rice - to me it was almost like a pasta dish. We couldn’t touch it any further. Finishing the whole meal off, we asked for the Chocolate Cake to be served. Looked quite good yet the cake base was too light and fluffy and entirely it was too sweet. A third spoon of the cook would have had my throat itching. The servers bus out the plates off of our table and places a still near-full bottle of hand sanitizer in the middle of our table. In entirety, we had quite a good lunch in the cozy establishment. Great team of servers that wanted us to enjoy our food as we did, since Mama Lou’s was borne out of the love for Italian cuisine. Still quite a handful of other Italian dishes on their colorful and vibrant menu, which we could have had if only time would have permitted. Would save them for the next time I’d be at one of the other 3 branches they have in and around Metro Manila. alwayshungry.ph
