The cook prepared some cake crusts and we have the discussion about homemade versus factorymade and... I was glad to learn that mostly everything was made in this restaurant and that they made everything from raw materials that were produced locally. Thanks to the great discussion, we decided to book for the next day for dinner with my wife and we can only confirm the quality of food and the incredible taste of the house made blueberry cake... We had an incredible sun last night and colors that were amazing and I will try to attach a picture if possible. The staff was very friendly and they liked to offer small blankets when it began to be a little fresh outside. All in all, probably one of the best dinner experiences with incredible landscape. We recommend and the prices are really honest and correct if you compare the offer!! And the cherry on the cake is that I could have a fondue only for one person... This place is a must when you're here.
The owner screamed me out because my passport didn't work for a technical mistake. It's expensive and the food is really bad... just choose another restaurant.
This is an excellent mountain restaurant. The staff were very welcoming and we ate on the terrase with amazing views of the Mont Blanc Range with Mont Blanc centre stage. Excellent choice of local and some international food. We had the burger with foie gras....It was wonderful. cooked perfect and well presented. The price was right for the situation so all in all a place to visit.
The location is key. La Bergerie is one of three restaurants grouped close together at the small ski/walking resort of Plaine-Joux, above Plateau d'Assy/Passy. All three share a magnificent view of Mont Blanc and the surrounding peaks to the south, and are close to the rough cliffs running from Les Fiz to the Pointe de Plate, behind them to the north. Although there is seating inside, in case of foul weather, most of the tables are on the decking outside to take advantage of the views. The clientele tend to be walkers and skiers, although some people drive up to the plateau for the pleasure of a drink or a meal in a charming location with a view. The service was prompt and charming, the food was nice, and includes some local specialities such as fondue. However, the menu is limited and the meals are not particularly copious - particularly if you have an appetite after exertion. A "grand café au lait", the standard fare of many Brits, will be served in a moderate sized glass cup. There is a good variety of drinks available, including Pelforth Brune which is relatively rare in the Chamonix Valley. There are only two beers on tap, including Pelforth Blonde. The positives: the view; the ambience; the service; and comfortable seating. They serve a nice hot chocolate.Less positive: limited menu; smallish meals (although not cheap); disappointing beer on tapThere are a few parking spaces very close to La Bergerie, including one dedicated to the handicapped, and there is a very large car park within a few minutes walk. The toilets include a change facility for babies.
