There were intriguing combinations of ingredients and nostalgia in every bite! I'm still thinking about hake with piccalilli soutslaai, and milk tart ice cream with flambeed fruit. The ladies preparing and serving the food were lovely too. I will definitely eat here again and highly recommend it to everyone. The farm shop is also well worth browsing around in.
This is without a doubt worth a Michelin star, if only they where not so establishment to award one to a southern african super chef!
Don't miss out when visiting Paternoster. Lovely shop with lots to buy
I love eating. I love imagination. I love the idea that you can turn mundane things into exquisite bites. Oep ve Koep was recommended to me by a good friend and I was enchanted by every detail (pics on my page). Kobus took the time to explain the food and a little bit of the philosophy, which added to the complete experience. I have eaten in 1, 2 and 3 Michelin-starred restaurants and have seldom been this delighted. Haven't been to Noma, though and now don't feel I really need the additional mortgage that would require. Who ever thought of searing watermelon and chucking kelp over the top? Wow did it taste good. The next challenge: try to translate Kobus' recipes to local Oxfordshire ingredients ...
Very cute and authentically West Coast shop and tea garden. Old school kettles, veldskoens, teas, biscuits and scrumptious cakes/breads. Rather pricey goods. Love the old school feel of the place. Pity about the locals outside, illegally selling crayfish. Don't be tempted to buy from them. Rather enjoy a nice cuppa in the tea garden. Shop and tea garden are manned by locals, better way to support the local community.
