Plum focuses on offering the best home style dishes with quality ingredients, creativity warm hospitality. The atmosphere is a take of downtown old brick Durham with a twist of southern flare interior. This restaurant shows off the little details; check presenters are tiny butcher cutting boards, the bookshelves feature southern touches (books to roosters to farm candles). The team members are inviting friendly. Too, this restaurant is known as a supporter for living wage employer, which is wonderful for their employees. Truly is one-of-a-kind farm to table experience. Passed through here on my way to Atlanta and can genuinely say that this place is one of the best southern kitchens I have ever been to! The food has so much flavor and dish after dish just got better. I highly recommend the brisket taco, brussel sprouts(an absolute must! , and the shrimp and grits.Best part is the owner and chef both come over to the table to make you feel like you are at home with family. This place is a massive win!Would 1 million percent come back.My brother says ‘ a true delight to the senses, delicate like a tiger lily to the morning sun’PSAsk for Mary Grace to be your server. She is the best :
Finally coming for date night after hearing so many recommendations! Plum nestles in the quieter side of durham downtown with easy parking. Combining Boho and eclectic vibe, Plum is quiet, spacious, making it a lovely cozy place for a spontaneous date. All the staffs we met were friendly and efficient. Everything tastes delicious, the brisket tacos, the biscuits, shrimp and grits, Plum does the classic southern very well. My happy surprise was the pork osso buco (on a rotating menu , the absolute best osso buco in the area!!! The braised meat was so on point with the perfect texture! Pear tart was pleasant (because the frangipane was very good but there was so little poached pear so the name was misleading. We will certainly come back and try more seasonal items, and get a different dessert (maybe Emma's cake!
The food here is great, but the vibe may be even better. I came here for a friend's birthday and we got the family style fried chicken meal. No one left hungry and the service was so friendly and helpful.
We were visiting Durham for the weekend and read about Plum on Yelp. This restaurant is absolutely incredible. I love tequila and mezcal. The server recommended the Electron which is a creative mezcal cocktail. And it turned out to be one of the best drinks I've ever had. The 5 of us shared a few small and large plates. Every dish was super tasty. Desserts were unique and also fantastic. We all highly recommend Plum.
