Gellifawr - Pembrokeshire

On Tuesday evening, we dined at Gellifawr for an evening meal. The menu had very limited options, but thankfully we are not picky eaters. We inquired about the lack of music and were told that the speaker was not working, creating a quiet and awkward atmosphere. Our waiter, Isaac, was excellent with no faults, although we felt sorry for him. He offered us drinks, but unfortunately there was no lager available. The meal itself was quite disappointing, as it was very greasy with small portions and lacked flavor. Our bill came to £47, while the previous night we had dined at a nearby pub for only £26. There is no comparison between the two, as the previous night's meal was ten times better. We were very disappointed with our experience at Gellifawr, giving it a rating of 3 out of 10.

Amazing food, I don't think we have any photos as it wasn't on the plates long enough! The night before the wedding our family and friends enjoyed the burger and chips, Katsu Chicken Curry and pork noodles. They were amazing. The wedding say we had chicken in white wine sauce and the potatoes that came with omg! Lemon cheesecake for desert was lush. A friend had the vegetarian option and cleared her plate, therw were plenty of fussy eaters, the restaurant was more than accommodating and not 1 complaint.

For my second night, I had ham hock terrine with pickled vegetables and toast, followed by poached salmon on sliced potatoes with brown shrimp sprinkled over it. The salmon was fresh and moist, with a great taste. I paired this with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. The chef had mentioned making chocolate brownies for the evening, so I had to try them. They were accompanied by vanilla ice cream and a raspberry coulis, and tasted fantastic. The chef was friendly and knowledgeable, and the service was faultless. Overall, a great dining experience. Poor quality and flavour of food. Wine was average but okay. Breakfasts were ample in amounts but lacking quality.

We tried the restaurant on the first night of our stay, and very pleased we did, the steak was excellent and although a steak knife was provided it was not needed as it was so tender. The waiter was also extremely polite and helpful throughout making it a most enjoyable evening.
