A ‘single’ poached egg on toast cost about £4.70 and consisted of a single not so runny poached egg on a buttered slice of toast with no garnish. A ‘double’ was 2 slices of toast and 2 poached eggs for an amazing £9.00 I suspect this cost less than £1 to make. Similar prices for other items too. Best advice take a picnic and sit at the picnic tables near the cafe park for the lily ponds. This cafe is ‘taking the mick’.
Desperate for some lunch after getting lost with two young children in the back of the car with travel sickness, we were so happy to find the tea rooms. However there were no child options on the menu and no offer to perhaps offer half a sandwich as is usual on menus for kids. Ended up paying 39 pounds for 4 sandwiches and a pot of tea! Daylight robbery! And the sandwiches were so unimpressive, made with cheap margarine, normal plain bread and the plainest salad ever! Not even a spoonful of coleslaw to jazz it up and make it a worthy £7.95 sandwich! Should have gone to the pub next door
We came across this restaurant on our way back from St. Govan's Chapel and were fortunate enough to find parking. We decided to stop in for lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the quick service from a very friendly waitress, even though the restaurant was bustling. The food was delicious and we will definitely be coming back again.
So happy to find this little gem still open, we first visited this tea room 38 years ago on our honeymoon! We enjoyed fresh scones, jam and clotted cream with a pot of decaf tea for me and a decaf coffee for hubby and all reasonably priced. The wasps were a nuisance outside so we chose to eat in, it's a traditional house so quite small with limited space but very quaint.
We spent £70.00 on 4 paninis, 1 sandwich, a jam scone, and 6 hot drinks at this restaurant. We were expecting high quality considering the cost. However, we were disappointed when the hot drinks took 20 minutes to arrive and the food arrived 15 minutes later. The bread was stale, the paninis were overcooked, the scone was dry, the salad was unexciting, and the portions were small. We'll bring our own picnic next time.
