There's also a humorous Irishman who sings, and one of the crowd favorites is “Kiss the Moose.” It’s truly a charming experience! The restaurant is adorned with dollar bills and various quirky items that are sure to surprise you—like the real human skeleton at the entrance. The smoked prime rib and shepherd's pie are both delicious, too. Plus, there's a unique menu item: $0.18 Senate Bean Soup—it's quite remarkable!
Contrary to what you may read on this site, this local non-chain restaurant is a fantastic must-visit spot in Pensacola. The beef is USDA prime, and the seafood is equally top-notch. The salads are packed with wonderful ingredients. Unlike your typical Irish pub, this place boasts an impressive wine list. While you can definitely find classic pub fare here, there's so much more to enjoy.
McGuire's is fantastic! Every time I've visited, I've either enjoyed a wonderful experience or savored amazing food—often both. I recommend avoiding the mistake of the other reviewer who tried to dine at an Irish restaurant on St. Patrick's Day. Like many Irish places on that holiday, McGuire's becomes more of a bar scene. The burgers are mouthwatering, with over twenty options to choose from, and the steaks are large, delicious, and reasonably priced—truly a winning combination in my book. Additionally, they brew their own seasonal beers, and the Honey Ale is my personal favorite. Having lived in Pensacola my entire life, I can confidently say that you should definitely check out McGuire's; it's one of the best spots in the area!
Simply put: we would never ever set foot in the place, nor would we recommend it to anybody. Why: My wife and I are writing a book on dining establishments along the Gulf Coast from Panama City to New Orleans. We have written half a dozen books on this type of restaurant based travel, having enjoyed dining in three dozen countries around the world. We timed our trip so that we would be specifically at McGuire 's for St. Patrick 's Day we had heard good things about it. We didn 't make it past the door. We arrived about 11 am, and the hostess at the door was simply the rudest person we have ever met. We have been to many, many restaurants that require a wait. We had never met anybody condescending. Or that didn 't make eye contact when speaking. Or that told us to get out of the way and stop asking questions (we had asked three! because she had a job to do. Or that loudly screamed that our number was departing because we didn 't have time to eat there. We 've eaten and recorded our experiences at over 2000 restaurants around the world. This is the first time we have ever been so turned off that we didn 't even want to try the food. We thought perhaps it was a gimmick treat customers rudely but what kind of gimmick is that? Curious about the experience, we asked several people in line. We spoke with half a dozen locals who said the only reason they were there was because they were meeting somebody or had out of town guests that insisted on doing something Irish. Albeit a small sample, these locals felt that McGuire 's driving force was to make as much money as humanly possible, and not to worry about anything else. One of them said she had previously been rushed through her dinner about six months earlier to make room for more diners. Apparently, the employees of McGuire 's would do well to undertake customer service training. We instead went to Hemingway 's in Pensacola Beach on our list for the following day. Absolutely fabulous, and wonderful people. Night and day from McGuire 's. We 're still trying to decide if we should even chance another try, but McGuire 's may only get a nod in the book that their customer service is far below average.
The service was horrendous, the food was nothing great, did not enjoy it and too long of a wait.
