I come here quite often like once or twice each week since last year. If it's not to sit and dine, it's carry out. Comparatively to most places, it has an interesting jolt to it. The Chinese is awesome and sushi, too! I'm not a big fan of sushi, but the waiter got me hooked into those Seafood Tempura Rolls when he recommended it to me last year. Good stuff! I have been treated extremely well and okay at times when I arrived at rush hour (even though it's bad time, but when you have the craving... you have the craving) and especially on Friday and Saturday (you regret it). So, I try to arrive before of after the rush. Anyway, I use to work for Chili's and I know how things are when it's busy especially on Friday and Saturday nights. I haven't been disappointed so far and my girlfriend always wants me to take her here every time she arrives from California. As far as I can see, you just have to see it a few times for yourself. I also like gawa, but popo is so much better since they have Chinese, too! Perhaps, if you see me, we'll probably have a sake-bomb.
We visit this place every month or 2 and have always had fast and friendly service. The food is always excellent and the staff very helpful.
Ok, let me start out by saying we drive over an hour to eat at this place. I love the food. The menu is great and the fact that I prefer soy wrapped sushi makes this my favorite spot. However............... The service has been awful the past 3 times we have been there. I was told the last time that I went there which was about 2 weeks ago that I could not order the seafood tempura sushi roll with soy paper because it could not be fried. I thought this to be quite odd since I had been ordering it for months and getting it every time. I was told that all special sushi requests went through our waiter and he had not okayed that. Well, I did get my sushi and he said he just didn’t know they could make it. Our last experience was almost 2 hours to eat and it was not all that busy. Instead of offering a salad or free drink for the terrible service or even an extra punch on our punch card they said oh well maybe next time you come in it won’t be so busy. There were only 5 tables and 2 wait staff if that is busy I cant imagine a Friday or Saturday night....
The service here was exceptionally horrible it is quite bad when you see a table seated, order basically the same thing as you 15 minutes after you have been sitting there already, and leave after finishing dinner before you even get your main course but even this turned out to be not what I ordered, so I had to wait longer yet for my meal. It took us 30 minutes to get soup and salad after ordering.... I live in Peoria area and will not go here again. Try Sushigawa about 2 miles away it is a million times better!
