A little bit pricey so glad I have the entertainment book. Was a birthday meal so was nice for the wait staff to go the extra mile even if they did get our birthday dessert mixed up
I went here for a birthday dinner recently. We were originally booked in at Print Hall I thought I'd booked Apple Daily but alas, can't make reservations there. Upon looking at the menu at PH, decided it was a little too fancy, and we looked elsewhere. <br/ <br/ The Trustee kindly gave us a table for 5. Although the atmosphere was a little more mellow, we still found it to be a lovely place for a dinner with friends. A very Nice wine list, which you'd expect at a city restaurant of this calibre. Service was professional and prompt, without feeling rushed. This was important as we sat down quite late. Food was lovely, and I look forward to the next time I can find an excuse to go.
This is only the second time I've eaten here, and I've really enjoyed the food in both occasions. Last night we had the 14 hour slow cooked beef cheeks, the prawn and blue cheese linguine and the 5 course dessert degustation- plus wine, beer and a few cocktails The beef cheeks were so delicious, I savoured every bite! It came with a mushroom ragout and a jus which was simply amazing. My partner liked his linguine, which had a lot of prawns, but thought it was a bit too cheesy. The dessert degustation was sensational but I would recommend sharing it between two (we went out like pigs and got one each). You can have it in 5 courses, or all at once on the same plate- we went for the latter. Having it all together means there's some flavour combinations that just don't mix well, if you've got the time enjoy it as 5 separate courses, you won't be disappointed! As well as just being generally awesome, the dessert degustation is also great value at only $26. I had the Mesha cocktail which was a fizzly sherbety sizzly delight, and the Ladies and Gentlemen, which was really yucko. The wines were not awesome, but still pretty good. The service was fast, but lots of small improvements could be made (for example, even though we booked 3 days prior, and they rang to confirm the booking, they still had to pull tables apart to accomodate us when we arrived. They asked 3 separate times if we want dessert after we already ordered it, and the woman at the table next to us had to ask several times for a glass of ice). Overall a great restaurant but very very noisy, something about the acoustics of the room. I'd give it 5 stars for food, and 3 for everything else.
The beef cheek was tasty and thr portion is big. Had estrcago and pork belly for entrée which were ok. The dessert degustation was average. The service was friendly but a bit slow.
Stepping into the dim hall, I was filled with awe as I was greeted by the large, overhanging stone angel against the red-lit bar. Her wings were spread out, an arm reaching forward as if to pick a low-hanging fruit from a tree. She reminded a bit of the Spirit of Providence. Interestingly, most of Trustee’s cocktails contain Angel’s Tears, a kind of plant from South America.
