The new opening times are as follows: Thursday to Friday - bar and fish and chips (best to pre-book), Saturday - bar only, Sunday - bar only. I visited a few times last month and I am pleased to report that the beer quality and selection are excellent. There has been a subtle reconfiguration, creating a nice lounge area where the old restaurant used to be. It is still a traditional pub, but on Wednesday nights they serve fish and chips which is always popular. The current beer selection includes: Timothy Taylor Landlord, Sharps Doombar, Batemans XXB, draft Stella, bottled Peroni, and Aspall's cider. The Black remains the most welcoming and friendliest pub in the area!
A friend of mine recommended this restaurant to me last week, so I decided to give it a try. We tried to book a table for their famous fish and chips on a Tuesday night, but they were fully booked. We were greeted with a warm atmosphere and lively conversation as soon as we walked in. The pub had a great selection of beer, including the popular Timothy Taylor Landlord, served at the perfect temperature. The fish and chips were truly outstanding, with perfectly cooked fish and deliciously crispy chips. The portion sizes were generous and the dish was served piping hot. To top it off, the bill was surprisingly affordable. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning, possibly on a Friday night - but make sure you book ahead!
This charming old pub exudes a traditional village atmosphere. Located closer to Alconbury than Peterborough, it is a local favorite. Be sure to call ahead to find out which evenings they are open and their operating hours.
A group of us visited on Wednesday for their fish chips at night and had a good time. the meals were served quickly and tasty and there was a good selection of ales abbot and timothy taylor landlord, plus caught stella artois. we will. come back, I think!
Fantastic oldy worldy pub, just how a pub should be, fantastic beer and lovely staff. Sunday lunch is good but has to be ordered in advance. Lovely open fire, no loud music just good company and beer, very tucked away but worth a visit
