Best Cake Bakery - Philadelphia

Sadly, the other reviews are spot on. The bread we received was rock hard, and the cookies were nearly impossible to bite into with terrible flavor. The cinnamon twist was the only thing that was decent and had a good taste. We discovered that if you soak the bread in soup, it becomes somewhat edible and the flavor improves, but we shouldn't have to do that. They really need to try out some new recipes.

I ordered a birthday cake and was extremely disappointed. When I tried to cut it, it was rock hard and tasted terrible. It felt like a display cake that had no business being sold. Honestly, it's the worst cake I've ever had—no exaggeration. I also purchased two cookies, but they were just as hard and inedible. I will never return to this place and strongly advise you not to go there either. It was a terrible experience.

It's really disappointing to say this, but what used to be one of the best bakeries in Philly has gone downhill. I spent over $75 on a selection of baked goods, and every single item was dry and lacking in flavor. The butter cookies were so dry that it seemed like they had forgotten to include any butter. The rugelach was so hard it felt like it could double as a hammer. The twists were so tough they could chip a tooth, and the babka was so dry that it took two cups of coffee just to swallow a slice. I used to frequent this bakery and was always pleased with my purchases, but now their offerings are simply disappointing, dry, and worse than even the lowest-quality supermarket baked goods.

Bought knishes because I thought they would be like the ones from the original Lipkin's on Caster Avenue. Bot NOPE! Had to throw them in the garbage. That bad. Just thick dough with a smear of filling.

This bakery recently changed hands and its better than ever. With the new owner they are offering quite a few flavors of knishes. If you buy six you get one for free. We tried the potato and kasha and they were both great. They are a flavor of old world charm. Their seasonal honey cake was the best commercial cake we've ever had. All in all a wonderful experience. We'll be back soon to try their challah.
