I ordered the Lamb Saag Lunch Special and the Samosa (vegetable). I dont do well with spicy food, so I normally get the mild option which always turns out delicious. This, however, was so so bland I immediately regretted trying this restaurant out. The samosas were the smallest and most flavourless I have ever had. The naan was so doughy, the lamb saag itself was not seasoned at all. The fact that I didnt have heat on mine makes me think their food generally has no flavour and they use heat to mask that. Even the rice, yall. It was short grain rice (not even basmati), not a hint or cumin in it or any attempt to make the rice somewhat authentically Indian. I will personally not be ordering again.
The food had no flavor i thought it was my taste buds at first
The best especially the chicken vindaloo and shrimp masala
I was on my walk on South Street and was craving some Indian food. I passed by the restaurant and thought to give it a try. It's a cozy place with plenty of room to sit. I came in around 3 PM on a Sunday, and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. (A good date spot) Service: Superb. The waiter was super attentive and knew when I was ready to order. Food: These are the items I ordered (I will update more when I come back). Samosa: 4/5. The dough was over-fried, but it was crunchy and flaky. The filling has complex flavors, but they are subtle and need a pinch of salt. Garlic Naan: 3/5. It was not my favorite. I appreciate the natural garlic in the dough, but the bread lacks a buttery fluff texture and a pinch of salt. It would be great if this dish had roasted garlic mixed in the dough. Lamb Vindaloo: 4/5. I love that it's spicy, and the spices stand out in the tomato sauce. I didn't get any hint of star anise, and maybe this recipe does not have it. The Lamb chunk was cooked a little on the dry side and would be a little better with some fattiness. You also taste the potatoes that have been soaked in the spices of the sauce. This dish needs salt. The spices can only take a dish so far, but it hinders the dish if it's not salted correctly. These are my opinion. Please check out the restaurant and give them a try.
