I thought about cooking some fried rice, but it would be easier to order only in Chinese for everyone. So, I hopped on GrubHub and decided to step up with my standard choice for American Chinese cuisine on Philly Square. It may not be the best I ever had in New York has that on lockdown and I do not even consider Schezuan cuisine as part of this genre), but it is done the work and is better than most places in Philly. In fact, it was good enough for our friends to ask the name of the place so that they could write it down. We had cold sesame noodles that were clogged with a simple Thai peanut sauce and fresh julienned cucumbers. <br/ <br/ Altmodische Topfaufkleber $6.25) <br/ <br/ We had two orders of twice boiled chicken dumps which were steamed, then brazed. <br/ <br/ Chicken Fried Rice $7.50) <br/ <br/ Since our order was over $40, we received a free large chicken egg mixed with peas, eggs, bean sprouts and scalions. <br/ <br/ veggie Lo My $8,25)<br/ <br/ <br/ <br/ <br/ The vegetables lo mine contained bits of bamboo shoot, snow bses, onions and mini maize. <br/ <br/ Sesam Crispy Chicken $11.75) The sesame crispy chicken was actually crispy, with a sweet glaze. The accompanying broccoli was damped but was not limp at all, with its innate texture.<br/ <br/ General Powell Spicy Chicken $11.75)<br/ <br/ Normally known as General Tso's Chicken, the Powell version is roasted in egg batteries and deep. It is then sauteed in a sweet glaze. The wort was not pronounced in this court, but there was nothing a little Siracha hot sauce could not fix. The chicken and broccoli was quite normal, with beautifully roasted broccoli, which was much tenderer than the ones that accompany the General Powell's and Sesame Chicken. <br/ <br/ beef with broccoli $11.75) <br/ <br/ The beef with broccoli had similar delicate vegetables, but also with juicy beef pieces. <br/ <br/ Lastly, I would be rejected if I would not mention the great magnum of Pinot Noir that our friends have made for us. This red varietal is difficult to produce and while I don't consider myself a wine-winner, it was easy to drink. Break acid with cinnamon and smokey notes. <br/ <br/ Overall Square on Square contributed to a fun night full of laughs and friends. It is not the best Chinese cuisine out there, but for delivery it is definitely up there for Philly. Big wine doesn't hurt his business either!
Excellent quality! I never had a bad meal here. The hot and sour soup is the best I ever had!
Comfortable, cozy and deliscious. Great attention to detail in service and food preparation. Really enjoyed dinner. Portions served family style with much to go.
The restaurant was nice and the service was decent. However, your menu is somewhat overpriced, which makes me hesitate to go back. None of their dishes really turned out to be contemporary Asian or Asian fusion – it was only mostly Chinese with an all-English menu. Nevertheless, dinner was still fabulous and the flavors in my dish were quite unforgettable.
If your looking for a solid Chinese restaurant pick that 's near the Rittenhouse Square area, this is it. I was joined by one of my Philly co-workers who had recommended Square on Square to me. He said that it was 'by far one his favorite places for Chinese food in Philly ', and after having such a wonderful meal there, I can see why. The wonton soup I had was deeply flavorful with generous portions of noodles and shredded BBQ pork meat, the...
