The Abbaye - Philadelphia

I can’t praise this place enough! Their new bartender, Jonathan, is fantastic. They serve the best seitan cheesesteak in the city, no contest!

As for the food, the roasted beet salad was decent but not remarkable. The vegan wings were drenched in buffalo sauce, while the vegan meatball sub had very little sauce and the bread was tough to eat. Some in our group ordered the vegan cheesesteak and enjoyed it, although they were surprised by how spicy it was. Eventually, we asked the waiter to cancel the order for the cocktail and requested the check. Just then, the cocktail was ready, and the waiter brought it out at no charge. Since my friend didn’t rave about how amazing the drink was, I can only assume that, while it might have been good, it wasn’t worth the nearly hour and a half wait. In total, we spent over two hours there just for one round of drinks and our entrees—no appetizers or desserts—and everyone left still hungry. I doubt we’ll be coming back anytime soon.

Ran across this restaurant while walking the neighborhood. We were seated fairly quickly, but the experience went down hill from there. From the watered down drinks to horrible service. We literally sat for over an hour and never received our food, yetpeople that were seated after us not only got there food, but left and new people sat down. When we asked our waiter what theETA was on our order he kept saying a few minutes but never produced anything. Not sure how long a burger and chicken fingerstake, but it never made it to our table. We also mentioned to him that people who came after us was already eating. It was notlost on us that we were the only African Americans being served... or not. I was excited about trying their menu, butunfortunately it never happened. I wish I could give them -10000 stars for treating us black in 2022.

I was on my way to North Third when, believe it or not, a man outside mentioned that their food is quite good and they serve mimosas. So, like any sensible woman, I decided to follow the mysterious stranger inside. And he was right—they had everything he promised! The prices were very reasonable, and the atmosphere was pleasant.

We visited this restaurant with my vegetarian sister-in-law, and we were pleased to find options that catered to all of our dietary preferences. I ordered the chicken wings, my wife opted for the meatball sandwich, and my sister-in-law chose the vegan meatball sandwich. All three of us were satisfied with our meals. The staff was friendly and attentive. I highly recommend stopping by if you get the chance!
