I am not Eastern European, but I speak Russian, and I really appreciate the fact that the staff does not speak to me in English when I speak to them in Russian. The Ukrainian Borscht with Tandoori bread is my favorite and I just can't go without taking chebureki with me. Every time I go, I can't wait to come back.
If you are looking for some traditional Usbek food, then visit this place and give them a chance. They won't be disappointed. The food was excellent with a beautiful interior and the service was exceptionally good. They have some traditional foods like Samsa, Manti, they were mouthwatering! The shikh kababab elements were also brilliant esp the veal liver salmon shikh! But we took Baklava as a dessert, they were not as good as the Turkish. Anyway, it was our first time here, but def won?
On a beautiful summer evening we were looking for a new place with outdoor seating to try to stumble over the Uzbekistan restaurant on a best list and to the northeast for dinner. So glad we did: very enjoyed sitting on the covered terrace* and tasting as many dishes as we could. A number of families were to eat and you could say there were a number of regular enjoying large pitches of Compot with BYO mix-ins. Some highlights: The pickled green tomatoes on the Pickled Vegetables plate were from this world! Also unforgettable, the potatoes Vareniki (small potato dumplings similar to Pierogies), the lamb Kebab, the Pilaf Uzbekistan and the honey cake. Although there was a bit of a trip from Center City, there was plenty of parking in the parking area around the back, and the food was worth the trip. *Open windows leave both the breeze and a fair amount of traffic noise from Bustleton Avenue.
Always a great experience and good food. Manty and olivie, service and atmosphere always will make you feel good portions are great.
Our experience here was most excellent. Neither of us had ever enjoyed this particular ethnic cuisine before and found the opportunity to do so irresistible? so glad we did! Between the two of us we ordered five entrees and appetizers, going all out. Everything we had was outstanding as were the hostess and server who were very nice and helpful with our decision making. Prices here are surprisingly low for the quality received. Afterwards we chatted outside with the owner at his woodworking station and found him to be quite a good and humble gentleman. Highly recommended.
