I hardly write reviews but I would like to take the time now to appreciate the impeccable and thoughtful service granted to my boyfriend and I by the owner. We are not from the area and he had chosen this restaurant as a surprise for my birthday dinner. While I began to drive, my boyfriend unfortunately started feeling carsick and we had to make some quick stops for his “relief.” Of course it had also been the first day of rain that entire year in the Mendocino area where we were staying, so I made sure to be extra cautious while driving. He truly could not have picked a better place for us to go. Hidden away on HWY 128 is a charming, cozy restaurant by the name The Bewildered Pig. Upon arrival we were greeted and assisted, and my boyfriend left to use their restroom. Since he would be inside for a while, the owner began to chat with me about my day and made me feel at ease after the stressful drive. Not only had she been the most pleasant experience of my day, but she even gave us free cookies to take back on the way as a gift. She also talked with me about natural remedies, including herbs and certain tinctures that aid in all sorts of situations. I ended up going back to my hotel with some apothecary remedies for him to take (which actually worked!! . Eating incredibly delicious food is a lot better with a happy stomach than an upset stomach. Food was 10/10. Service was 10/10. Atmosphere was 10/10. I hope I can enjoy dining here once again in the nearby future. Thank you!
We had an amazing experience! The food was incredible, from the deviled eggs, the soup, through the main course, and dessert. We truly enjoyed discussing the meal and wine choices with Daniel and Janelle. We can't wait to come back!
I love everything about this restaurant and the owners and chef Janelle who takes such pride to ensure the dining is an experience! The place, the Food and presentation is fabulous! I hope they do not lose their lease as I heard earlier this year because this place is an absolute gem! Support it while you can, For fun bring a cigar to enjoy around the fire pit. You'll probably see Daniel the owner enjoying his too. Oh and and come early to walk around the garden and see the wood working and fountains the owner has made and will sell!
Great outdoor space to enjoy lunch if you’re unlucky enough not to get seated. I recommend a reservation. Beware if they can’t get you in, to go service will likely be slow. Just enjoy the space and relax..perhaps start with a glass of wine or two. The deviled eggs might be the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. Everything was good to great but I’m certain the tasting menu inside is fantastic. You can’t get everything to go btw. If you’re in a hurry go anyway and grab a snack inside, they have cookies and handmade crackers at the counter as well as jams and various local mushoom concoctions. Not cheap but different and anything in there would make a great gift. I will be back but next time with a reservation.
