I never write reviews but I was so put off by this. I arrived at 7:10 with a friend to get some drinks and apps before a concert. As we were walking in from the parking lot, the waitresses who was casually talking to a table that she seemed to know stopped us and told us through the patio gate that she was the only person there and that she wouldn't be able to accommodate us for 30 mins to an hour, as every table and all the glassware were dirty. Though she was polite in her address, as two people with 20+ years between us experience in the industry we were taken aback by the news that 1. we wouldn't be able to be accommodated in a timely manner on a slow (relatively) Monday two hours before close, and 2. that a server was left completely alone with not a single manager or support staff (truthfully we find this incredibly hard to believe, which is probably why we are actually upset- feeling lied to).We were really looking forward to trying out the place and were extremely disheartened that it *seemed* as if the server didn't want to bother serving us. Maybe we'll have a different experience if we make our way down here again soon.
I have been to this restaurant a handful of times over the years. I'm not a big mead fan so this review will be about the food. This is the first place I ever ate pork belly and it was absolutely amazing! This was about five years ago. The pork belly was shaved into thin slices. A couple years later it was served chopped into fine fine pieces. Very disappointing and even the server acknowledged this change. Today I came in for the pork belly, which is served on a very spongey circular bun, Bao Bun. The bun was 90% of the meal, 8% topping, 2% meat. It was really disappointing. I spent $20 on three of these Bao buns, two pork belly, one Korean beef. The meat is chopped so small you don't even see it, you have to take the toppings off to even see the meat. The meat is liked bacon bits in size. I'm really disappointed in this business, the three meats would barely fill a taco. I love the ambiance, the smell hits you when you walk in. My waitress was sweet and understanding of the long wait. However, when a business ups the prices and sacrifices serving size and quality it's noticeable. I should have snapped a picture of what I was served but here's a picture of how much bun was left over. It's excessive.
Carson was my server, he was very knowledgeable about the entire menu and gave me and my wife wonderful recommendations for food and drinks. He was professional and had a great personality. Now down to the food and drink, we had the Butter Bison board, it was super good just wished there was more meat! Also ordered the fries, honestly some of the best fries we’ve had from a restaurant ever. Check the pics guys. I even bought a bottle of their silver medal winner mead.
My cousin's who live in Scottsdale recommended this place for brunch so we met up here the day before I came back home to Michigan. I love mead so this sounded like a great place to have brunch and taste all the things! It is a beautiful space and the staff is great! We ended up ordering the mead flight, it's 28 samples and you could easily share it with someone but we didn't know that and well, we were a jolly crew in the UBER home. LOL We started with the bruschetta board and the beemosa brunch board. Then for entrees we had Hangover Arepas, Bao Trio, Booker Mac, BBQ Brie Burger, Lobstah Roll and the Taco trio. This place truly is awesome. The food, the service, the mead!!! It was an awesome experience!!! This is definitely a great place to eat and drink and highly recommend it! I definitely plan to be back!
