Please note that this restaurant has been renamed to the "Lantern Restaurant" and is now located at the same site as the former establishment. If you are looking for the motel with the same name, it is now called Hillcrest Vives Inn. The restaurant offers simple yet delicious food, with particularly tasty seafood chowder and a satisfying seafood soup. While we did not try the lobster dishes, the clams with sweet potatoes were delicious. The dessert is also worth mentioning, as it was a nice, homey touch. The service was excellent, with the waitress providing attentive and friendly service.
This little motel is out of the sixties but the rooms are spacious and clean. The attached restaurant offered some interesting local choices at good prices. This is a nice spot to drop your bags for a stopover if you are touring or golfing in the area.
One of my missions in Nova Scotia was to track down good seafood chowder - and thx to Tripadvisor, we did... Hillcrest View had the Best Seafood Chowder - so much seafood in one bowl yummmmmm
You would be hardpressed to go hungry here. The two piece fish and chips was huge, especially the fish. The fish was properly cooked and the fries were decent. The fish chowder had so much fish it was piled on top. It was mostly haddock but there were several scallops, clams and bits of lobster as well. The broth was very creamy with no flour or cornstarch. The broth could have been a bit fishier tasting. We had no room for dessert!
